Default Need help with LS6 Intake

My LS6 intake has a ton of metal shavings inside of it. They are pretty much stuck because of all the oil that was in there. My install guy wanted me to buy a new intake but I cant swing the money right now, so he told me to take it home over the weekend and see if i can clean it. The metal shavings are from when my valve fell in and hit the piston and shattered the piston. We found a piece of a ring and tons of pieces of the piston. What do you guys recommend for getting in there and cleaning this intake. I was thinking maybe spray some carb cleaner and then blow it out with an air hose. Give me some ideas, I have the stock intake too but I dont think I want to go through the trouble of exchanging to an LS6 again later.

Marco, use carb cleaner(take all intake gaskets off first) and compressed air with long blow gun, then go to do it your self car wash and blast out intake with hi pressure spray wand. That should do it for you but blow it out again at home afterwards. This is a big deal but you can take care of it.

Yes they will bloat if you contact them with any cleaner chemicals. I am awaiting your dyno results! Good luck.

Just blast it for a long time with a garden hose....do each port separately....it is plastic and therfore, water is the best cleaner...

Let it dry before installing. You can also hit the ports with a blow dryer....

I ended up spraying a whole can of carb cleaner in it and that alone got alot out. Then I went to the car wash and pressure washed each runner and now it air dryed it looks spotless. I'll have to flash alight in it later and take a peek. Thank god though I didnt want to resort putting my old 98 intake on. Thanks for the help. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />
