Cam Swap On Weekend. Will This Lifter Tool Work? I 've searched for an hour going through all the threads. Finally doing the cam this weekend, I went to the hardware store and the only pen magnets they had were $7.00 each! 
I bought 2 aluminum rods 1/4" and I'll try those. Some people say the 5/16" doesn't want to slide in one of the holes on some cars, so they had to use the 1/4.
Will I NEED to flat spot the entire shaft? Will the lifters slide past the 1/4" rod? I have everything set, I want this to go smoothly this weekend. TIA

Just swapped my cam a couple weeks ago. I went to hardware store and got 1-1/4" and 1-5/16" wooden dowels. I got wooden dowels because its much eaiser to be able to bend them when trying to put them in the block. Worked fine, there is no way a lifter is going to slide past unless the laws of physics dont apply where your at. Good luck
