Debate: Z28 vs. Boxter
) guy. He is convinced his daddys boxter would smash my stock z28 (well, borla exhaust) I am trying to sound intelligent in saying that he might win, but he won't smash me. What do you guys think? I took out a few Carrera 4 Porsche's and 2 Carrera 4S when I was completely stock except for a lid. The Porsche Carrera's are more powerful than the Boxster also.

Personally I "had" a 01 Porsche Boxster S (we were selling it) and me and my bro took it for a ride. Felt fast mainly becouse it's a small car, but in the real life ain't fast for a Porsche.
Don't mess with it on the "twisties."
On a staight line if you can make a decent take of (not spinning badly) you will rape him, but if you spin too hard he will walk you easily, due to tha lack of torqe in the Porsche it won't spin it takes off every time.
Edit:
Invest 90$ for a lid. Won't brake your bank and you will feel the differene.

Sadly, I don't think that they are eligible for that class anymore.
Stock for the stock, the F-body has the advantage in acceleration, the Boxster has the advantage in handling but either one could be won or lost by the driver.

There's a few site about car's performance and most of the cases they come up with different but close numbers. (my guess would be different track, elevation, driver's skill etc... you can't run the same time / mph at the track either.)
but those sites generally give you a good estimate what to expect as an outcome.
Here is one more.
Back to the "twisties":
So F-bodies handle like a bath tub...don't believe the myth spread by ricers.

But in my opinion I would doubt on a slow track, full of with turns a stock F-Body would do very well. Let's be honest stock shocks suck.
In my opinion that track where the test was did is relatively fast and the SS could take advantage of its huge power / torqe over the car's what it beaten. They were not beaten by the awsome handling they were beaten by rough horse power and torque with just good enough handling.
If you ever have a chance to be taken for a ride in an M (BMW) car or Porsche with a skilled driver around the "twisties" you will see what handling means. They feel like they are on rails.
edit: this thread is in the wrong forum.

The year makes a difference for the boxter too... 1997 base boxster was only 197 hp, ugraded somewhat over the years but still 225 at most.
"S" models started at 255 hp and are up to 280 for '05. I would guess one of those properly driven could give you a run for the money in a straight-line considering your close to stock - but I will give you the edge based on torque.
Run him in a straight line, you should win.
