Default Guys with TEA/GTP heads can you post you Dyno #s?

Well, I think the Dyno #s will be the best test to see how the heads performing. So, could you guys please post your heads and cam with your Dyno #s.

Thanks!

I am very interested in this subject. If TEA is putting down the same dyno and track numbers as the GTP's then why would you spend the extra grand on GTP's.

The GTPs seem to consistantly put 430-440rwhp down without a problem with all the bolt ons and no cats. The TEA's I have seen all have put down in the 415-420rwhp range. Another thing is that I see one set of heads will put down 440++rwhp in the dealers shop but sends them out to regular Joes and only sees 390-410rwhp. Why is this?

Also don't forget not all dynos are the same...look for the thread about how one guys went from one dynojet to anther in the same town and had a HUGE difference in rwhp numbers. This is another reason you see freak dyno numbers out there sometimes.

AND I have seen GTP headed cars run way faster at the track than TEAs. Just ask a few people around like Moose(11.0's at 125mph) and TOSTO RACING(11.26 at 120mph 3600 pound raceweight)

Thanks guys!

verbs, I 100% agree with you! But I wanted an easy comparison.

I think I need to know what type of gas was used too! Like race gas, 93, compression, etc. because some shops use race gas or open headers and I am not very crazy about that, because you just can not drive the car like that on the streets!

I just want to know what heads are putting down the same or close #s as the other cars. True the cam, dyno, rear end, etc. will make a difference, but it should be close! And that is how I can figure out which heads are good consistent. Head flow #s are just not very good comparison! Some heads are flowing in the 300 CFM @ .550 to .600 but there dyno #s are just not up to par IMHO.

I made close to 10 runs in two different dynos and where about the same #s (447 rwhp to 451 rwhp). Hoping to see about 15 to 20 more rwhp with my new set of heads!

I also have to agree with Smoke_ur_5.0 in what he is saying. Let me break that down a little futher, people who have the GTP heads aren't making excuses as to why they are only making 390-400RWHP. They always make more power than that. If you bought a set of heads, have all the bolt on's, but are making excuses, you made a bad decision on what heads to get.

TEA 5.3's here..

I make 440rwhp/401rwtq at 10.8:1 compression, 33 spline 12 bolt w/ 3.73's, full bolt ons.

TEA 5.3 truck heads 11.0
CC 230/230 114lsa cam
3.90s (corvette)
431/400 running 14-14.5:1 A/F

Just swapped to:
CC 230/230 110lsa

I am going to try and dyno again this week, the car feels much stronger with the new cam. I believe with the new cam and changing the program I should pick up at least 15rwhp.

Ruf, you already know how my car runs with Thunder racing GTP heads and the TR227/224 cam from when we raced

And remember, that was through stock exhaust manifolds, stock cats, and oem mufflers. When headers arrive we'll see how things turn out.

jmx, I was very impressed on how your car preformed next to mine . True I have more rwhp, but your car weighs about 400 lbs less. Also, I am getting my wheel spin taken care of

I just want to see which heads are making consistent #s.

By the way, Gorge is getting his car ready soon

GTP stage 2 5.3 heads, milled .010 just for clean up.
comp XER 226/226 .581/.581 114 +2
dynoed unlocked through cats and corsa catback
401rwhp, 413rwtq

track results in sig are through dual cutouts right off the headers.

As a side note that was my best pull. My first pull was 400 rwhp and 375 rwtq and I got the bump to 410 rwhp by playing with the maft. This dyno was done thru a stock 10bolt with 4.10 gears. No codes or any type of problems were apparent either with a 12.8 a/f.

Also my car was by no means a low dyno car originally. With the cam and headers only I dynoed 370 rwhp and 368 rwtq so it would have been nice to pick up more than 12 rwtq with the addition of the heads.

If I were to do it over again I would have gone with TEA 5.3 heads and saved a couple of bucks.
