Unhappy Oil Pressure getting worse on LS6 pump!

I already have a K&N filter with Amsoil synthetic running right now [been about 3 k miles now.. ] This was done when I had the cam installed [along with a LS6 oil pump]

The oil pressure was great [ cold starts 70+ psi ; hot idle 45-50 psi ; WOT 70 psi ; cruise 50 psi ]

However, as the weather started warming up, the oil pressure has been steadily declining... and now it's 45 psi at cold start, 35 psi at hot idle, 40-45 psi at WOT, and ~ 38-40 psi at cruise ]

Also, if it's 70+ outside and I'm driving with the AC on, the car heats upto 210*

I'm totally flustered at what went wrong!!

Mods in signature...

Any ideas ??

Do you have the fans set to come on earlier? Even with a 160 degree stat you will see temps up to 210-215* in warm weather because the fans aren't on yet. 40-45 psi at WOT? LIke 40-45 psi at 6k at WOT?

yes the first fan is set to turn on at 168* and the second one at 175* [if I recall correctly]

And yes, 40-45 psi at 6k WOT once the car has been running for a while [30 mins or so normal driving]

I had the same problem with a rebuilt motor , turned out it was my sending unit the whole time . I just replaced it after putting around 5K miles on my new motor .

I bought a replacement sending unit too..

However, changed the oil today and the pressure has been normal [70+ psi at WOT ; 40 psi at idle and 50 ish at cruise below or around 3k rpms]

Here's what I found really strange... the used oil was really diluted almost watery!.. it was Amsoil Synthetic... Switched to Mobil 1 5w30 today...

Doing the Sending Unit anyways... hopefully, it'll be okay!!

I didn't see any coolant in it.. it was just watered down oil..

Also, the car would heat upto 210* even with the fan mod [ 168* fan 1 : 172* fan 2 ] and 160*.. but the coolant was right on level ... But that probably warrants a minor tune adjustment because the car was last dyno-tuned around Feb when temps were still way below 0* here..

Make sure the oil doesn't smell like gas , if it does , your washing the rings down and could end up scoring a cylinder wall . It should be a pretty noticeable gas smell . Other than that , it could have just been that ya needed an oil change . I see my pressure decrease a tiny amt as the oil wears out . Jumps back up once I change it . How big of a jump in psi was it ?
