Default Pushrods and ticking and coolant crossover for head

Okay I have a ls1 5.7 with 5.3 heads milled .020 comp r lifters. F1 cam .591 .569 on a 112 the head gaskets are the stock ones from the local orielys fel-pro gaskets. Stock bottom end. Stock valves in the 5.3s but a good valve job done. Also i am running 7.4 comp pushrods. I think they might be to long cause if cruising for a few minutes at about 50mph i start to hear a really loud ticking coming from the engine but wheni stop for a few seconds and start going again it clears up for a lil bit. Has to be either the pushrods too long or rockers are messing up but they look fine or my new $200 comp lifters suck.thanks guys for all the help you have been giving me. Also my radiator is leaking but i have a new in the garage but it doesnt have the line for the top of the radiator for the head return line. Can i just cap that off at the heads but still have it crossover to each head so it still flows. I noticed my dads 5.3 truck doesnt have this from factory. What do you guys think of all this.

Depending on the base circle size of the cam different lenght pushrods might be in order.

Pull the pushrods and check to see if you have a bent one

If you have Comp R lifters like you state and 7.4" pushrods, you probably have way too much preload on those lifters from what comp states.

I agree. I think with the stock set-up you get around .040-.060" of preload and that is with a stock pushrod which is 7.385". Most aftermarket cams have a .030" smaller base circle. If I did the math correctly and if you did not shim the rockers it calculates out that you are running around .035" of preload. Comp recommends .002-.004" of preload and this is checked on a warm engine.

Damn so i should need the 7.35 instead right? Or what size should i get? Dont have a legnth checker and dont know how to do it. What about the crossover tube for the heads? But if i have that much preload then wouldnt i need a much shorter pushrod instead thanks guys

You really need a pushrod length checker and a dial indicator gauge to check your preload. If you have over 1/8 of a turn after zero lash to 22 ft/lbs I would say you have too much preload.
