Low Dyno Numbers with 423 stroker

Dynojet or mustang dyno?
That cam is WAY WAY too small even for a truck. You have a TON of horsepower with a cam change. The cam is peaking around 5000rpm LOL!
Also did ARE port the heads? What truck is this motor in? They have heavy drivetrains as well.

Holy S man... it absolutely falls on its face at 5200. The torque ain't bad, but you've def got something left to be desired with that small cam. I don't think the cam is the main source of your problems, but once you find out what it is... go with a much bigger cam. I'm only running a 370 and I've got a 244/248. Give the monster what it needs.

Its a small cam ,but thats not your problem. After you figure out what is wrong with it, you might as well upgrade to a larger cam. Please dont throw a nother cam in there thinking it will solve your problem. I would guess that it might be installed wrong, but most likely its something else. People were telling me that my h/c car just dynoed low because of drivetrain loss, small cam, loose converter, but turned out it needed a rebuild.

First problem ARE.
The trq curve seems on track so I would relate this to cam also. Look at the cubes, that duration is waaaaaay to small to feed this ape.
You got yourself a nice tow truck now (not funny, I know, but couldn't resist)

Cam, people running 402 and 408 CI engine's are usually running at least a 240+ intake/ 240+ exhaust...you might have another problem but the low dyno numbers are def coming from that cam. There will still be plenty of tourque with a bigger cam and you will be well over 500 rwhp with the right sized cam. Good luck with the rest of your engine build and sounds like you have a potential monster on your hands!

Who on earth picked that cam for that motor? I'm going with a 248/252 113 lsa, maybe you should just go to that too.

Looks like he locked the converter up on that dyno run.. Now it looks like its about where it should be with that teenyweeny camshaft. I'll bet money that with a custom 240+ camshaft that it would pick up a good 50rwhp. Cause all you've got right now is a stock like big cube motor with no air getting in or out.

We had some issues with the stock good year truck tires on the dyno and some few tuning changes. I know it needs a bigger cam but that will have to wait for now.
Until then I'm just going to spray the hell out of it.

Bet that lil embrionic cam sounds stock in those cubes! How about you keep that cam and we'll swap shortblocks Ok, seriously though, cam, springs, and make sure the tuner tunes the TC in right as well as AFR. Good luck on it and bet you will soon be pumping out mad power.
