Default 5.3 heads

Is any one running 5.3 heads in the stage 3 configuration. What is your CR and how well does it run on 93 octane. I want to add these during my cam and intake install. I can get LTs later. Hey post up your HP # with these heads and similar mods.

TB - stock ported
Intake - LS6
Pulley - 10%
Cam - 224-112-.581
Trans - stg.1 3200 stall
Rearend - built 10 bolt-3.73
Eaton, Moser,T/A
Headers - MAC mids w/3" coll.
3" Y w/cats and c/o
Suspen. - BMR, Edlebrock
Heads - 5.3 or LS6 ?

Stock shortblock and 5.3 heads. Anywhere from 10.8-11.1 compression. 93 octane is fine anywhere in that range. Depending on gasket and depth of mill you can get more compression if desired, but 11:1 is a good number.

5.3 heads should give you approximately 10.8:1 compression. My stage 2 5.3 heads work great with 93 octane gas.

If you think you might ever want to add a super charger or nitrous you might want the LS1 or LS6 heads. The extra compression from the 5.3 heads will only get you 5 to 10 extra hp. But if you go with a super charger or nitrous the extra compression will probably make you loose more than that.

Good luck,

Al

I am planning a 100 shot. Thinking maybe its a no go on the 5.3 heads. I will get my ATI Procharger some day. I have to spend the funds on things like a new roof, AC unit and it really sucks 'cause neither one of those will make my Z go faster.LMAO
