Hmm how about some intake flow numbers We are concentrating on mid lift flow. We will loose some flow up top for big mid lifts. This looks like where we are going to settle at

.100 73.5
.200 144.4
.300 209.7
.400 252.3
.500 283.4
.550 296.1
.600 294.2

I think that is about as good as a stock valved 5.7 head is going to get.

You guys seem honest on most of your work, but I think you are lying.
Those are awesome numbers. Better than most companies 2.02 after market valved ports.

I know what you mean! That stock intake valve flows some big midlift numbers.
Heck it outflows out 1.5 5.3 head to .400 lift

of course. But if you already have the 243 heads I would go ahead and add the supporting parts to make it a stage 1.5 or a 2.5 head.
Since you are already starting out with a better platform.

compared with PRC stage 2.5 5.3L

Intake Exhaust
.100 72 cfm 63cfm
.200 141 cfm 112 cfm
.300 204 cfm 153 cfm
.400 252 cfm 194 cfm
.500 283 cfm 212 cfm
.550 298 cfm 225 cfm
.600 308 cfm 229 cfm

compared with _these_ intake flow numbers.. am i reading this wrong or are you better at everything except high lift ? (and you arent worse by much, in the high lifts)..

what are the exhaust flow numbers?

cause the way it looks right now, this is a much better deal for $1,000 than PRCs are for $1,529

or am i an idiot?

You know I'm back and forth on these and the 1.5s Brent. So I could expect ROUGHLY somewhere in the range of 15-25 rwhp with these heads and more like 30-45 rwhp from the 1.5s? For the little extra and my power goals I think the 1.5s are where it's at for me. Just wanting to make sure though.

your reading it right. These stage 1 heads have some killer midlift flow. @ .550 and .600 they loose to the larger valve heads but give them fits to .500!

Good deal Brent. Looking at the 1 and 1.5 heads flow is just as you described. I just wonder if having the better low-mid lift flow of the 1s would benefit my little 221/221 .558/.558 112 cam better than the higher flow over .400 lift of the 1.5s. I'll keep an eye out for those results. Very interested to see what you guys get from them. It'll make my decision much easier. Hopefully I can work my tail off over this fall and winter and have a set of heads on the car before the tracks open next year (budgets suck).

Brent, the webiste lists the price on the Stage 1 head as $1,387. I thought the idea was an under $1000 head, or is the wrong price listed?

The price on these heads is very nice.. And yes, it is a damn good bang for the buck I'm sure. But, in my opinion they aren't what they are cracked up to be..

If anyone wants to make a bet, I'll put down $100 bucks that if you put your TEA heads on a SF600 or 1020 flow bench there will be a significant drop in flow numbers.. Especially on the exhaust side.. No bashing or hating, just facts and truth.. aka "real world" numbers..

Still good heads for the money being spent.. No doubt about that..
