Default largest bore on iron block w/ stock crank

Will be running boosted (15plus psi) and wanting to know the largest bore one can take the 6L iron without weakening it? BTW, the plan is to use a stock crank.

Some blocks can go .060 over, but you should really have it sonic tested as all blocks are a bit different.

Iron blocks are usually good for 60 over but an optimal bore for a turbo setup would be 30 in my eyes...

Go as small as you can. If its a 4.0 block like the 6.0, then go 10 over or at most 30 over. Never a need to cubes with boost.

I agree with rick. If it needs a cleanup go .010 over. Otherwise leave it alone and let the boost make the power.

Thanks guys.. the motors being rebuilt due to an excessive oil consumption issue so I figured what the hell.. As it is, I'm not gonna be able to run all it's capable of anyways, so I'll just have them clean it up and leave it as is..

Just couldn't stop listening to that evil voice in me saying mod.. mod.. mod.. or more.. more.. more..

Hey Rick: That load dyno is bad ***!!! Thanks for letting me sit in a bit on that tune session. I'll see you in 3 wks..

How much would the stock 3.622 crank handle?

Will forged low comp pistons and forged rods swap, only, be enough to run high boost (16psi or higher). Or, should a forged crank be used.

if you do a search on stock crank limits or somthing to that matter. there are a few people on here that have upwards of 800rwhp with the stock crank. you should be good. only one way to find out for sure.

I don't think anyone has actually broken a stock crank from excessive horsepower yet. Harlan was over 1000 rwhp with his last year, and now I think it resides in his turbo truck.

That's great news. How about the stock rods limit?

I wouldn't push the rods that far. A decent set of rods can be had for 550.
