Cars Crappy Milage :(
I bought my car about a month ago 2000 SS 45k miles on it and I figured i'm getting about 200-220 miles per tank from having it at Full to Empty mostly city with very few highway miles I only raced once and that was barely even a race I'd say I got on it about 4 times and none of those were for over 100 mph...The speed limit here is 30 mph and I always have my rpms at 1.5k or below sometimes but rarely I shift at 2 k rpms and i cruise at 1.0-1.5k rpms...What could be causing my bad gas milage? My car shoots about a code for a few minutes//an hour I took it to autozone and it was according to to the codes the passenger side o2 sensors front and rear...The autozone thing also said I was running "rich"....Could my sparkplugs also have something to do with this? All possible information is welcomed Thanks

Your mileage is about right for strictly city driving. You have to get it out on the freeway to see good mileage. The 1/2 way mark is not really half way. On my gauge the need;e goes up past Full, so I've already burned a couple gallons before it gets back down to Full. By the time it's at 1/2 on the gauge it's below that in reality. You know you can't be getting noticeable worse mileage between under and over 1/2 full. If anything it should be slightly better under, since you weigh a little less.
Sorry dude.

lol, if you dont know, when the light comes on you have 40-50 more miles of driving(conservative that is/no internal work) I've personally done it more than 10 times B4 my cam with the same mods, I got 310-330 miles per tank, and that was very little highway and mostly city. Its not what speed u cruise at or rpms, its how fast you get there

Do a search on gas mileage. There are many, many, MANY threads on gas mileage. Seriously.
My last tank was 10.8 mpg.
(I still get mid 20's on the highway though)

Not to be the word of insult...but if youre worried about gas mileage, a Z28 or SS probbly isn't the vehicle of choice.......... more like Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic.......
That said, I get about 16 miles to the gallon (or 200 a tank), and that's with a TR24 112 LSA cam (hurts mleage) + LT's , intake, (improves mileage). This is a mix of city/ highway driving. Before the cam install I got 17 mpg. (about 220 a tank.)
YOu are normal for city/ highway driving. If it was STRICTLY highway miles, you should expect 300 a tank. Anyone who claims that in the city either has a V6, is mistaken, or drives like a nun on the way to church
Hope this makes you feel beter.

Change the passenger O2s. The "front" O2 affects the fuel mixture. The "rear" O2 is to judge catalytic converter performance. At start up the car is testing the emissions and until it "passes" you will be in a rich preset fueling mode or open loop. You probably should just go ahead and replace all the O2s (4) . Changing the fuel filter would be unrealated but good preventative at 45k anyways. I take it the car is still stock? Also for preventative / learning about your car measures you could check/ clean/ regap the plugs.

I get 260miles to the 1/4 mark... mixed city driving and highway..... about 80 miles of highway.
Whenever I approach 18 mpg on tank that is mostly highway driving, Im satisfied.

I get pretty crappy around-town mileage since I installed the LTs and Predator tune, even with stock cam. I have HF cats, too. Part of it might be that I've been enjoying the new tune and headers so much that gas mileage has takin' a nose dive; I've been spending a lot more time at 5500 that I used to. It responds so well and sounds SO wicked with the LTs, Loudmouth, and new tune! On the highway it's different story; I can cruise at 70mph/1500rpm-80mph/1700rpm and get almost 30 mpg with the stock rear end. Sweet!

Well a reason for the crappy gas milage compared to other people, is that they say city...I live in a town...Stop and go to 30 mph not some big town like houston, thanks guys I think i'm done here
