need advice on 427 build in Australia
Building a 427 with 6L iron block, 4.000 stroker crank and boring out to 4.125. I have collected most parts from here in Australia and USA, Heads still needed. I have pulled apart the old LS1 and transfered most parts and changing most to new as needed. including all bolt on.
I have a few questions.
1. how do I transfer the reluctor wheel from the old crank and fit to the new crank.
2. I was told by the supplier the block its safe to bore from its current size 4.000 out to 4.125 is this safe, will not be using any power adders just N/A.
3. The cam I will be using will be Comp cam 232/234 595/598 lift LSA 112, though its small I am looking for low down neck snapping torque.
4. what heads should I use, I have calculated with 4.125 bore, 4.000 stroke and 72cc heads the compression ratio is around 11.3:1.
thanks.
Max.
6L Iron block
4.000 nodular iron crank
H beam 6.125 forged rods and arp bolts
arp head bolt
Comp cam 232/234 595/598 lift LSA 112
25% under drive pully
forged pistons (still waiting on type)
stainless valves
dual valvesprings
Ti retainers
roller rockers
diff 4.11:1

Can be done, but as mentionned block needs to be sonic tested. You could go through a few blocks before you can find one that is proper.
A 422 would be better 4.030 bore

Forget about the 4.125 bore on the block. Even if you found one that would sonic test, the walls of the cylinder would be so thin that it would be useless. If your looking for that super torque, go with the longer stroke. 4.100-4.125 with a .030 over bore and get 422 CI's. That would deffinatlly crack your neck when you goosed it.

Thanks mate, I am going to keep the bore 4.000 and stroke at 4.000 giving me a 402ci this will give me room to move on future mods. I am stuck with the 4.000 crank so I am limited to that stroke. The new compression with 72cc heads would be 11.1. Before I bolt it all together I need advice on cam choice.
would the Comp cam 232/234 595/598 lift LSA 112 and sig below make good HP and torque, the car will be driven twice aweek for fun and track work once a month. the car is a Commodore four door version of the GTO (heavy).
thanks.

I was going to put the 232/234 into the LS1 a while back but changed to a 402 hoping it will work, looks like Im in need of a better cam , I can take it back and change over to something bigger .
Will the comp cam CC850-16 roller lifters be strong enough for cams in the 240-250 dur and 610-630 lift @50 cam size.
