GMHTP magazine just put together a 427 LS2 motor and used a lot less radical cam than yours. I think the cam specs were 228/228 115lsa for good drivability and a broad stump pulling torque curve which would do verygood when matched with 3.08,3.23,3.42 gear. But like you, I also love the idea of a big nasty sounding cam and steep gearing 3.73,3.90,4.11 etc.

You might want to give the cam a little more thought. The best person to ask would be Tony Mamo of AFR.

I would skip the Felpro and find .040 Cometics.

not NEAR as strong, not reusable, and you have to take a "standard" gasket thickness......for basic rebuild/mild performace Felpro (or other fiber) gaskets do fine....

cometics can be ordered in thickness from 0.027" all the way up (so you can make a perfect match to your piston-to-deck clearance, they are STRONG, and you can reuse them as many times as you want

that is all they "stock" but Cometic will build a gasket (same cost as "off the shelf") down to 0.027"........you just have to (and are better off) deal with Cometic directly (personally I think you get your parts faster that way...)..........I TRIED to get them to make me an 0.018" but they wouldn't.....said something about the gasket would be too thin and burn up.......
