Reverse Split Cams
Ok lately I have had the discussion or reverse split cams with different people. I've had 2 shops tell me reverse splits werent any good, however I disagree. The cam I have sitting in my closet to go in the Z28 and its a reverse split. Its a proven cam out of my friends car, 11.20@120 cam only. Pretty damn good if I might say so. But both shops have told me reverse splits wont put down the #s. Im not worried about dyno #s i look at track times. This is a proven cam. However his setup is different I know he has a bigger converter and lower gears but I have longtubes and dyno tune to his midlengths and mail in tune. The F13 and TR 230 are reverse splits and are popular cams. And I also know that yes a cam with like a 228/232 would do better on nitrous but like I said I'm not worried about dyno #s I look at E.Ts. Whats everyones view on this and what do you think? Are revers splits good cams or what do you think? I just wanted to hear some other people views and thoughts. Thanks

Reverse splits are good for stock heads and better drivability. Other than that a traditional split is better. I have the TR custom reverse split in my car and I put down 391 hp 383 tq untuned.
my car cam only with a reverse split mae 403 hp and 389 TQ thru a 12 bolt and a HD nitrous steel driveshaft, stock water pump, stock t stat, no shortbelt, just a full exhaust a lid, pulley and ported TB... and my cam is small in comparison to some that are out there. I'd say that they work fine, and work better for nitrous setup's.
If you plan on running a really, really good flowing exhaust seutp with no cats, it'll work just fine. Look at my numbers in my sig. I ran cats,and dual muffler exhaust with the same setup and it costed me 21whp. Driveability is a little better from a reverse split.
Reverse split cams flat work when you have a really good exhaust, but you can't just look at the duration at .050". See, the Thunder Racing TRak cam I have is a single pattern cam at .006", forward split at .050" and reverse split at .200" lift. Pretty cool, huh?

I have a reverse split cam car (MTI X1). I put down 417HP 404 Torque. That is a pretty big torque number for stock heads.
the difference in my reverse split and other cams is that my power begins at idle and runs through 6,500 rpm.
I will never get rid of my reverse split cam, I love it! Don't be afraid of them.
Is this cam optimal for the track? Probably not, but having all the low end torque sure is fun on the street
It shakes at idle and has a mean lope too!
