a stock internal car probably won't benefit much from raising the rev limiter, but it could help your shift extension...

most consider 6500 safe, 6800 pushing it, 7000 asking for trouble, 7000+ here she blows...lol
Some would say we are crazy, and they may not be wrong. lol I shift my A4 at 6700 rev limit at 6900, My husband's M6 rev limit is set at 7200 but shifts at 6700 and tries to keep it below 7000. Both have upgraded valve trans.

The M6 has seen +7000 many times over the past few years and even up to 7400 with no problems so far. Yes, we know we pushing the limit and would not suggest this to anyone else, but so far we had gotten away with it. hummmmm knock on wood!!

My rev limit is set a 6800 and I shift at 6500..but its a street car and not a race car..so usually shift around 6000...I had it out last night and took it up through the gears 3 or 4 times..the air was cool for a change..the car loved it and so did I.. ..6500 rpms is a sweet sound thats for sure..the TSP Torquer cam pulls real good up there..

Mine limit is set for 6.7K RPM's but I shift at 6.2-6.3K RPM's because I start loosing power beyond that with a TR224/224.

I have mine set at 6800. I wouldn't push a stock valve train over 6200, but I know people that have. And I have heard an LS1 at 7500, and it DOES sound nasty. But you need very good parts to live there for very long!!!

just a suggestion to those of you with pre-2000 engine blocks: look into the block changed made in 2000. the 98/99 blocks have poor oil return to the pan, the oil return in the back of the block is consisted of 2 small holes about the size of your thumb. in 00 they revised it and made the whole area open between the holes, something you'd have to see to understand. i believe that hotrod mag. had an article on it. just something to chomp on for those of you who crave high rpm.

FWIW my stock motor died at idle and put #7 outside the block. Oil pump failure.

6800 here shift at 6500 \ stock bottom end the rest is in sig.

The guy who tuned mine informed me that the tach. was a lil slower than the engine by like 300rpms, so even though it says 6500 its prob. spinning 6800. Just my 2 cents

Limiter set to 7200, shifts are at 6900, but it spins to 7080 +/-25rpm as per logging records. Been running it like that for a long time. On nitrous I have the shifts at 6700 but still blows by that and turns a hair over 7k. Stock bottom, H/C/I.

sounds like average is like in the 6800/6700 rev limit. for you guys going to 7000+ rev limit what does your valve train consist of? I mean, roller rockers? by who? valves? spring load @ max lift rated? stock or mod/hp heads? etc...
just trying to figure out what direction to go with rev limits.

thanks

On my stock bottom I had the limiter at 6800 and shift about 6600-6700. On the forged bottom end I'll have the limiter at 7200-7300 and shift 7000-7100 depending on the power curve of the G5X4.
