Default Who's running a 106lsa cam? Need info

Searching through the LS1 Sounds, I heard a 2000WS6 running a .570" lift, 106lsa cam not sure on maker, duration etc, but wanted to find out about driving impressions, performance and related tuning issues. TIA,

Charlie

Grand Am Cup cam? No personal experience with it, but I can't imagine it would be fun to drive around town. I'm sure people have done it though. If this is the cam you heard, it's got a lot of duration and lazy lobes. It is intended for road racing I believe. Hopefully this will help get you pointed in the right direction.

ya, id rather opt for the trex or magic stick, they would seem to make more power and be more tame...

This would be a good carbureted cam, but would be a pain to tune and would not be a very good driver. Too much overlap.

I had a 239/246 106lsa 106icl .651"/.61x" cam for just a little in my self ported heads and cam stock shorblock motor. It was an animal to say the least. I had 4.56 gears though so it tamed it a little. I never had a chance to tune it though cause the comp r lifters (two in the back) came apart before I could tune it. The tight lsa cams are not as bad as one would think but you need a really good exhaust port and system for them to work well. A good intake will help as well.

Thats actaully my car you heard or the video you saw. It's a GM CAM used in the C5R in the world cup challange. Specs on my spec sheet say .570in./exh. 239in / 251exh @ .050 106lsa l07cl dialed straight up..

Personally i have no driving issues or problems and my cars an AUTO, but like any car with mods tuning it we make it run better and the way you want it. tunning this cam wasn't bad at all. and i just got my wideband 02 and have used it yet b/c i blew my tranny and waiting on that. so i'm not sure on how well i actually had it, but she ran good. started fine, idled fine, idled in gear etc. Performance is none other thats for sure. for example i dyno 370rwhp @ 9.5:1 air/fuel on an auto not bad i'm sure this cam could see well over 400rwhp on a stock motor.

I will be running a 226/224/.58x/.57x/110lsa/106icl very soon.
I'll let you know how it goes. Should lope nicely and rival strokers in trq output.

Good info, and thanks for responding. This was for a friend, he heard the audio clip and says thats what he wants, so I am merely trying to facilitate his goals. If by chance you wouldnt mind sharing your tune, if HPT or Edit, I would love to see it, can be sent to cat3n4@gmail.com

Its the cam used in the speed world challenge, but im pretty sure its not used in the ALMS (C5-R). The guys at LG motorsports have to run it in theyre race cars, so maybe theyll come in and give some info on it.
