best street use cam?? NO track
im putting a LS1 in my 79 Z28 with a 6spd. but it will be pro-tour and will not see the track. what is the best street use cam that makes the best possible power ALL OVER the power range. btw, I am going with stage 1 LS6 heads for the extra compression.

I would get the f-13 (www.futralmotorsports.com) cam or the Tr224 (www.thunderracing.com) The f-13 will make a little more power and be harder on springs (probably good idea to change every 20,000 miles) The tr224 will lope a little harder. Either way I would get them on a 112lsa.

You want stop light to stop light power. You want the TR 224. Of course, you, like me, can control your RPMs, but the TR 224 starts its power band at 1700, and that's about where you'll be in town. Talk with Thunder Racing. I think it's Frutal Motorsports that makes the F13, for which you will receive a lot of reccomendations as well.

For a daily driver, I say T-rex! But seriously im putting an FM13 in my 98z28 and even though its not my daily driver I dont really get to the track and want it to idle decently and ive heard/been in a few cars with FM13's and if its tuned right it'll def idle great and provide tons of power for ya.

I just installed a VHP cam for similar reasons, street only. Power peak is at 5,800 RPM and good torque down low. It has a 115 LSA as well so the idle is very good and with the Crane rockers and springs there is absolutely no sewing machine noise. All depends on what you are looking for in the can I think.

IMO you cannot beat the TR224 114lsa cam. Enough cam for me to run low 11s and a few high 10s. All this performance with a stock like idle with no cold or hot starting problems when tuned properly. This cam is also easy on valve springs.
