Comp Cams 875-16 "R" Lifters
Horrific discovery today, 9 out of 16 lifters have no retaining clips and one was so bad even the pushrod seat was in pieces. I did a search on them after my discovery and all I could do was shake my head. The only light to this is most of the trashed metal was in the lifter valley, and was retrievable or at least so it seems. Also one broken valve spring on the number 1 intake.

7.400 on the pushrod length. 0.575 lift 230'/236' duration intake and exhaust, comp cams magnum rollers 1.75:1 ratio brand new GM LS6 block with the deck cleaned enough to true out, and nothing excessive. Motor hasnt seen 4500rpm because I was still building. Maybe 2k miles on the motor with frequent 500 - 750 mile oil changes... Motor built by competent engine builder. Absolutely no piston to valve clearance issues, I have not a clue? If I feel I got most of the metal out of the heads and liter valley area, how many of you out there would still drop the oil pan??? And will it be any easier with the BMR tubular k-member???

If you look to the left of the #1 intake rocker arm, you can see a coil from the valve spring across the top of the ARP 12 point nut thst would be the #10 bolt head on the head torque sequence

I would also suggest Mellings lifters, a hell of a lot cheaper and still a great lifter. They can both be found here. Just scroll down the page a little. Morel can also be found @ Thunder's site, here.

Like reusing the stock rockers....
By the way..like what was asked before...what was your preload and did you check to make sure the pushrod length gave you the correct travel on the valve? If you didnt do either of these correctly then its operator error unfortunately and not the lifters fault. ..like so many other times here.

Seems more then odd to have a bunch of them broken, I'm running Comp R's without an issue, but I've pre-loaded mine much more then Comp recommends. I would assume the clips would be more likely to break due to lash since they would get pounded vs one's perloaded more, I still think Comp has their head's up their asses over this issue.
Many possibilities as to what would cause this, blaming one part because you've read about other issues on a forum isn't very scientific. Again odd to see multiple lifters broken.

After extensive conversations with Comp Cams, they advised to replace the retaining clips with the e-clip style thats on most of their other lifters and on most race lifters. How irronic is that?
