Default 236/236 or the f14 Quick Compares

Okay here we go.

f14 cam is a 232/234 598 598 114 or 112

Custom is the 236/236 602 602 114

Which would be best for a stalled (vig 3600 auto) with 373's and full bolt on????

f14 will put 400 average down

The custom puts 415 down.

Not sure just looking for some help

The guy I know who builds motors says that the 236/236 would be more streetable than the f14

Having driven, ridden in, and ran at the track an f14 car.. then video taped it going down country roads trying various rpms all the way down to 1200 before it would start bucking on a futral motorsports mail order tune.. I'd have a hard time believing it would be any more streetable than the f14. That was on a 112. BTW: JFYI that car went 11.6 @ 117mph with ls1 intake, mail order tune, stock torque arm, stock pulley, and a ported t.b. It pulled a 1.7 60' with lca's, panhard, and some tires. This car had 4.10 gears. The car was full weight at just over 3500# raceweight. It didn't have skinnies or anything. C5 rims up front, worn out et streets on salad shooters. Just a heads up on my experience. The 236/236 might do well performance wise, but I can't imagine it being any more streetable.. equal maybe, but unlikely.

Peace,
Josh

So you would recommend the f14

That is what I wanted but he was talking to me about it and all. I think I will stick with the f14.

But should I get it on a 112+4???? A guy was telling me to get it on that and it should be fine because it will bring the peak powerband down a bit and the 112 can be tuned

The motor builder also said to me that I may have hot to cold start problems in my car with that cam and a stall because it's on a 112

You shouldn't have much more than a slight idle search on startup with any cam in the range we are talking about unless your tuning is off. I would just go for 112+4. It'll be fine. If you can spend the coin I'd go ahead and ship your pcm off to futral and have them priority ship it, get him to tune it for you.. That way there is no questioning if the tune is top notch. Then you can dial in the AFR at a later date a little bit more for those extra few horses. But allan's tuning is second to none.

Good Luck,
Josh

f14 for the win. Alright, anyways I will have a local tuner do it for me as he isn't bad at it. If worst comes to worst and he can't tune it which I believe he will. I will send it off to allan to tune it properly.

Thanks guys

So with a $400 install price, how much we looking for cam and dual spring lifters????? Estimate

You won't need lifters. You need hardened pushrods, camshaft, and dual valvesprings. I would also recommend changing the cam seal, and you will need a harmonic balancer bolt. Futral should stock all this, as I've ordered many cams from them. If you call Futral's #, which I think is 1-877-784-3278 they can give you the lowdown.

Peace,
Josh

the 236/236 114 is going to be a very top end cam. Late IVC and early EVO suggests that you'll need to spin to atleast 6800 to get full advantage. Low end torque will not be great, but the vig 3600 eliminates the need for power below 4000 rpm.

The F14 on a 112 has about the same overlap at .05 as your 236 design, but I'll bet the extra tq in the midrange of the F14 on a 112 will get you down the track faster if you drag race.

Could you not run the Comp 918s with the F14? The lift is below .600 correct?

You installed your headers right?

If so I suggest that you install the cam yourself and save that money. However 400 bucks is not that bad for a cam install...

I ran 918's for several thousand miles just fine on my .598 lift.
