Default Short Block is 90% done...

Tonight I worked late to get the shortblock done. Basically its done except for covers. Here's what we used:

LS6 Block Bored 3.905

LSx 3.622 Crank

Scat H beam Rods ARP 2000 Bolts
- Torqued 70 ft/lbs - Clearance: .0022-.0024
- Clevite H/Calico Coated Rod Bearings

Diamond -4.2xcc 11 degree pistons
- Calico Coated Skirts and Thermal Coated Domes

Katech Main Caps
- Torqued 60 / 50ft/lbs - Clearance .0017-.0019
- Clevite H/Calico Coated Main Bearings

ARP Main and Head Studs

How's that sound?

Sounds like a solid build! What's up with the SCAT rods... haven't heard much about them for the LS1's.

Let me say this, I couldn't have done this without Jason @ Texas Speed & Performance. He has helped me every step of the way.

About how much money did it cost to do this to your motor?

Nice Phil. WHen you get ready to prime the motor, keep an eye on how much oil is coming up out of the pushrods. That should let you know about any lifter issues.

I also have ARP 2000 con rod bolts, but at 40 Ft/lb (OEM Rods)
I did not have a strech gauge, and followed instructions (40 ft/lb three times)
Why so high (70)
I have .015 main bearing
clevite 77 performance for rods (CB-663 HD)

Pics will be up tonight...

Agenda:
install cam
install front and rear covers
install oil pan
100% finish the bottom end - clutch and bell housing
Torque heads down and start port matching intake

On the intake we're going to port match the intake to the heads and maybe use alittle epoxy.

It sounds like your going by the stock instructions. When using an aftermarket bolt, you need to use there instructions for TQ'ing. It's the bolt that is being TQ'd, not the connecting rod.

Thermal coated pistons

You consider coating the intake valves as well while you're at it?

If I had the money, the chambers, valves and exhaust runners would be coated also.
