BTW, if your wondering.. its been taken apart for a while and my cat likes to lay in the engine bay...


going with some used patriot stage 3 heads with additional porting done by speed demon, and a pretty heft cam with a 300 shot direct port

stock singles... 2002's have been recognized as having bad batches that get brittle and snap.. i have a few buddies with the exact same thing happening but they were still under warranty..

What's the 408 consist of, parts, etc? How much? I'm in the process of looking for a 402/408 motor as mine is dead as well, nothing like you had though Crazy to see that kind of destruction.

Are those heads repairable?, I had the same thing happen to my motor, only to the #8 cylinder and I cant afford new heads if they are junk.

i dunno if they are repairable.. i didnt even bother.. figured i might as well go big or go home hehe i sold the other one to another 02 Z06 owner that had a spring fail on his driver side... so he got lucky and got 1 good head from me and has a complete set now lol

BTW did you guys notice that the rod is still in 1 piece... god those things are TANKS!@! lol its bent a little bit but still whole!

I had a mishap that mangled the combusion chamber of my AFRs pretty good. I thought for sure I'd have to buy new heads. Not the case. A local fella made them look like brand new again. He said he's repaired chambers you could stick your whole fist in.

Yeah, how do you think patriot changes their combustion chamber. All it takes is some grinding and welding.
