Default Ferrera Valves?? worth it??

I am ordering some LS6 (243 casting) Ported / Polished heads...

Question is... Is it worth the extra $$ to upgrade springs.. My car is daily driven with all Bolt on's...

232/236 .595 .601 114+4, True Duals,LS6 intake, Ported TB , pulley, 3500 stall, headers... etc...

Already have the 918's...

Thanks,,,

I'd keep the 918's

If I had a choice of stock LS6 valves or Ferrea's I would take the LS6 valves, but if they are LS2 heads the Ferrea valves are better and worth it if you go up in valve size.

I agree completely.
Correct me if I'm wrong but the Ferrea's will be much heavier.
Last Ferrea's I weighed there was a very BIG difference on the weight. It was something crazy like 70% more weight for the Ferrea intake.
Just FYI

I really like 918's, but if I was lifting that high with a heavy valve I'd reconsider the spring. The 918's still might work. I'd check the bind height on them and your install height.

Another FYI, I have an older set of 918's that bind at 1.12" and a newer set that bind at 1.08". Check to see what you've got because that .040" might make the difference.
With 918's seat pressure goes like this:

install height
1.85" = 130 lbs
1.80" = 143 lbs
1.77" = 150 lbs

If you have the newer style 918's then you could probably get away with as much as 1.77" install height leaving you .690" room to lift.

With the lighter Z06 valves you could go 1.85" or more on the install height leaving lots of room left. Stock Z06 springs have just under 100 lbs on the seat.

Thank you very much for the clarification... I do have the "blue stripe" 918's BTW...

Guess the LS6 valves will have to do.. If it's not that critical..

Thanks again..

im kinda leaning towards the oem valves as well considering with the special patriot is running on their heads it is an extra 300$ for the ferrea valves over the oems. but then i talked to jason at tsp and he said with the torquer ver. 2 cam it would be better to run the ferrea's. so im undecided still, any help would be appreciated

IF you have the OEM LS6 valves (the hollow stems) run them!

They OEM valves we supply with the 243 castings are not the hollow stem valves. The Ferrea valves are a 6000 series valves and are a very high quality valve. As others have said it is heavier than a hollow stem valve, but it is a very strong, high quality valve.
