Update on Heads&Cam R&R....
1st:Cleaning out the damn head bolt holes was the longest and most tedious thing I have ever done! Really, just when you think you got it all out of all of them and run a clean towel down in there to check. Bamn..fluid.
2nd:Its alot easier to tighten/Torque the head bolts if you sit on the front radiator support with you feet down. You can actually reach back there and get some stuff done. Yes, my back hurts and so will yours when your doing this. I think the engineers that decided to put the motor 5inches back need to experience some of this
3rd:Why or How in the F**k dont the stock rockers ever like to go on straight. I mean, there shaft mounted. Really, I tighten them down and not sitting square on the valve stem???? O.K. Loosen up straighten out.tighten up. Fine! WTF on that one.
4th:WhothehellWTF put that damn 15mil bolt behind the damn P/S resevor thats next to impossible to Start the damn thing, yet alone not get it cross-threaded???
So, there I am. I just need to chase the threads to that one P/S pump bracket, install that. The H2O pump and finish up the final stuff. I figure about another 3-4hr MAX tommorow. I'll keep you guys updated. BTW, waiting for my buddy to get home and email some pics we took today.

Also, Gm engineers must have a secret agreement with some form of chiropractors association. no matter what you do to these cars your back will hurt and your hands will look like they went through a meat grinder

The bolt holes.. spray them full of carb clean and let them sit overnight. I assume that you spent the first day of good part of it removing everything, and cleaning the block. This was the case with me. I tore everything down the first day, cleaned the block, and then sprayed every hole FULL of carb clean. This does a couple things, it loosens up anything that might be stuck in the holes, and it also evaporates, so alot of it goes away. Then, the next morning, take an air hose, and put a piece of fuel tubing on it, and stick it in the bottom of the hole, and let her rip Covering the hole, and as much of everything that you can is a good idea as the stuff flies everywhere. Hold air on until there is no more fluid coming out. Much easer then the paper towel deal... that wasn't something I wanted to waste hours doing.
The bolt on the power steering pump is easy to get to.... if you remove the pulley. This does require another tool to remove and reinstall the pulley... but it was well worth it.
All the grounds on the back of the heads, put them back in with one bolt.... to hell with that multi grounds point nonsense... I did it with one bolt, no problems, and alot less work.
Not sure about the rockers moving.. mine all just went right on where tehy were supposed to.. the pushrod sat right in the rocker, and then teh tip fell in line with teh valve no big deal. I reused my stock ones ( what most people do, as they are the lightest things you can run for the most part ) and had no issue there. I have alot more valvetrain noise now then I did before... but milled heads, dual springs, heavy duty pushrods... I guess it should be expected.
Congrats on doing the install yourself, I did the head swap on my car with some help from the guys @ Eastside, and a buddy of mine, and it went well. Alot of work, none of it all that easy, but the feeling of doing the job myself, was priceless. Way more rewarding then just handing the keys and a check over. Not even so much because of the $ to have it done, more the feeling of accomplishment.
