Should i change the pump i only drive the car 3000 miles a year(and the wife drives most of that) do to being in the military 4000 miles away from the car.at least for the next 4 years.

that's up to you, i've done 20 or so cam swaps and never had any oil pressure problems at all. ported oil pumps on stock cars are just extra insurance and not something 100% nessecary at all.

Depends, if it was a 00 and earlier, then it would be higher on my list to replace. I think the 01+ cars came with the LS6 pump and if thats the case, then I wouldnt mess with it unless your changing out the timing chain.

I wouldn't do a cam swap on a 97-00 LS1 without also swapping pumps, but on a lower mileage 01+ it's really not necessary.

LS1 and "LS6" oil pumps are the same. If you've ever disassembled one you'd know this. The problem area is casting flash / other junk getting caught in the pressure relief valve. So disassembling and cleaning your stock pump is just as good (or better) than buying a new one. You can also add a small shim under the spring to bump the pressure if desired.
