Default Rod bolt question

Are the rod bolts in a stock LS1 motor pressed in? I'm going thru the motor and would like to add some ARP rod bolts. I know the older SBC rod bolts were pressed in which meant completely disassembling the motor to change the bolts.

Thanks

The rod bolts are a bolt just like any other. Just unscrew them. I'd use Katech's bolt's if I were you. They are designed to be a direct replacement. Although you should be fine with arp's, I believe they recomend checking for roundness and what not.

Katech the only way to go. No huff or fuss, just bolt on and trq to 50 lbs.

Thanks..it's a stock bottom end motor that had 60k on it, was a girls car with no mods so I'm not overly concerned it was pushed real hard. I was just making sure they didn't need to be pressed in.

Thanks all

OK..a quick question. Why does Katech charge $153 for rod bolts when I can get the ARP's for less than 1/2 that???

Because they are the ones that did the R&D and the only ones that are GM approved (ASA program) and the only ones that make direct PnP replacements and garantee them as such.
