Default Daily Driver cams with lots of lope

I've done some researching but its hard now because of the search function is wacko. I've never researched cams other than some TR and TSP. I was thinking of the TR230. I want to learn more on other cams but I don't know where to start. A list of cams that sound real nasty, but are actually pretty tame. Prefebley mid power cams. I love the sound of the MS3 and the Trex but I know I have to compromise some. Where does a cam get its lope?

It's going to depend on your exhaust setup. Back when I had duals, my tr230 sounded like it was a trex or something huge. Turned heads everywhere I went. My idle is set at 900, but when I played with it and got it down to 800 ... it just sounded mean!
The TR230 has a great, flat tq curve, and awesome mid range and top end power. Driveability is amazing after you get it tuned to get the low rpm driving smoothed out.

Besides overlap (cam lobes causing the valves to open and close at the same time for fractions of a second) duration (how long the cam holds the valve open for) and lift (how high the lobe of the cam opens the valve) are other factors that effect how the cam makes the engine sound. A more loose lob separation angle (higher number) will not sound as lopey as a cam with a tighter lsa also.

The cam in my car is a 228/230 .576/.595 on a 114 lsa and it's got a nice sound to it, not too choppy but theres definitely something there. The same cam (F11) can be had on a 112 lsa and it sounds more 'lopey'

check out the TSP 233/239 that's the cam i want, and it sounds mean i want major lope, but good driveability and that cam seems to offer both and good performance.

I am pretty happy with the way my F14 lopes. It really draws a crowd and with no cats, headers and bullet mufflers lets just say its loud!

The cardinal sin of engine modding is picking a cam for sound. Choose a cam for the type of driving you will be doing, how much power you want, and where in the rpm range you want it. For a daily driver, you want good average power and torque instead of peak numbers of a dyno queen car. With street gearing, average numbers will mean better times then peak numbers. This of course is all based on the setup of the car such as gearing, heads, auto or manual, etc. Unless you're talking about the Cheater cam (211/230 with ~116LSA), pretty much any decent cam will give you that choppy lope sound we all love. If you want the real choppy sound, just set your idle to about stock (750 with an M6, and 650 with an auto).

I'm planning on putting a cam in my stock motor at 93k miles. The cam I'm looking at is the Futral F6 cam (226/230 .575/595 114LSA). It's nothing radical, but for a stock higher mileage motor, it will be a nice gain throughout the rpm range. Plus it's not a spring killer of a cam either.

My car is a manual and it idled right at 1000 rpm stock....i've never seen a stock LS1 car idle at 750......and none of the Futral cams are spring killers because of the CamMotion grinds.....the lobes are softer, that's a big reason i chose Futral that and the crazy numbers they put down. But on a side note, i am with the above opinions, the F14 is a killer cam.......sounds bad *** https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-internal-engine/445203-thank-you-futral-motorsports.html and obviously performs well, review that thread to hear my vids.

228/232 600 lift on a 110 LSA. Very fast ramp rates and has a nice lope.

230-236 112 lsa XE-R Comp Cam. Idles at 850 with a lnice lope but no shaking. SD tune killed a lot of the lope but made the car sweet to drive everywhere.

Also have a ported 90/90 setup.

ProStreet MotorSports built and tuned to 460-470 RWHP

Sounds good to me. Newburgh is just east of Evansville, basically a suburb town. There aren't enough LS1's and too many Mustangs down here it seems. There are a few LS1's that are modded, but I rarely see any...

s346k,

There is some element of street racing and the like down here, but it can be hit and miss, especially in the winter. The hot spot where most of us hang out on Friday and Saturday nights is Green River Road at Sonic.
