Default 98 vs 01

If I was to drop a 98 LS1 into my 01 SS, besides the head ( valve cover issue) is there any internal differences ? IE cam specs etc etc
Valving differences.
Would it be worthwhile to swap the heads from the 01 ( 241 heads ) onto the 98 block ?
any thoughts

The cylinder walls are a little bit thinner in the 98 block.
The heads don't flow as good as the 241's and the perimiter valve covers SUCK ***. i would swap heads just to get rid of the valve covers.
the 98 cam is a tiny bit bigger.
Thats all i can think of off the top of my head.

Yeah that too, but i figured he's talkin about just long blocks. probably blew up his 01 motor and got a 98 long block for cheap.

Oil pumps are hit or miss on the 98 blocks as well. Other than that if it's an upgraded valvetrain 98 block they probably have an aftermarket ported oil pump and maybe different heads. Hell if you're looking for a 98 long block i'll sell you mine for cheap. 425 rwhp strong and low mileage for a 98.

Yeah, I have my knockin 01 still installed, hopefully, Ellis and Rollinig Black have a deal workin for me on a 98 longblock, but I think I will want my Cloyes (Hex-A-Just roller with 2k, intake and heads off my block, question is, can I afford to have that all swapped over..

Can someone shed some more info or detail on the *hit or miss* comment, so I know what to expect, or if I need to get a new one, or yank the one off my 01 block or whatnot
Thanks

pre-2000 blocks also have poor oil return at high rpm. search if you can, there are some pictures illustrating the differences between 98/99 and 00+ blocks. i would also suggest a new oil pump, preferrably ls6..it is cheap insurance.
