I'm pretty sure all '98's came with long blocks, but I could be wrong
Not sure if anyone here will be able to answer that question for you, but I bet if you go to www.ls1.com someone there "may" know
Let us know when you find out as I'm sure there are some folks here who'd also like to know

dont go with long blocks .. definitely you will have clearance issues .. stock blocks are LONGBLOCKS from factory and they are 346 not 427 .. u can imagine a long block plus extra cubes it will definitely hit every street hump .. short block all the way
P.S u cant lower ur car with the nasty longs

We're still not on the right page
Yeah.... I was hoping you weren't going to say you were doing the work
Listen.... before you do this, it would GREATLY benifit you to take some time and do some real research. Hate to see your shop do you wrong thinking you won't know better.
Shortblock = block, pistons, rods, wrist pins, crank/reluctor, main caps/studs, bearings, oil pump, cam, timing chain/gears, and in some cases, the oilpan, front/rear covers all of which are assembled by(usually)a competent engine builder.
Longblock = all of the above PLUS heads w/valves, retainers, springs, guides, push rods, rocker arms.
Please do some research before venturing any further.
This endever WILL be expensive.
Good luck!
*EDIT* Sorry guys.... just couldn't keep it up and sleep tonight.
