Default Oil consumption????

I think that I have an oil consumption problem.... heres the history: rebuilt motor, honed, re-bearing'd, absolute stage II heads, 222 224 571 574, 114LSA cam, forged rod bolts. Stock tune, runs great. Well last week, my low oil light was on. Oil pressure was still at 60 while at about 2500 rpm's 40 at idle. Checked the dip stick, and it was low. Put a quart in it, and the light went off. It happened again last night, low oil light, put half a quart in it, now its fine. Oil Pressure is still fine. Will tuning solve this problem or is it more PCV related? All of the smog crap is off the car too, smog pump, EGR valves etc. The motor has about 2700 miles on it since re-build. I used non synthetic oil 10w30 for the break in (500 miles) then switched over to Mobile 1 10w30 synthetic. Anyone have any input on this? Thank you in advance for any help.

Well I just ordered the breather for the oil filler cap. I am going to do away with the PCV all together, see if that works.....

How many qt.'s did you pour in? LS1's tend to "lose" oil.

well orriginally, with the oil change at 500 (after rebuild) I put 5 1/2 quarts in. Then the first time I noticed the low oil light, I put a quart in, then the 2nd time I put half a quart in. I ordered the breather for it yesterday, hopefully that will help it out.

I will keep you updated......I have a couple buddies running the breather, and they said it helped out. I am sure that when I get a tune, it will help out as well....

It is that breather filter that goes in place of the oil cap on the passenger side valve cover.

you can also eliminate the PCV valves completly as well by taking all the lines off, and putting another small breather on the drivers side valve cover.

You may also want to try a catch can. You would be surprised how much oil can be ingested into the intake. Take a look at the back of your throttle blade to see if you have any oil on it.
