Worth it for the peace of mind.

Plus, they are cam doctored before they go out. That alone is worth any extra $.
^^ When I buy new down the road it will be from Kip.

Hi ,I've been reading these post as i'm in the process of a 383 build, and thanks to Kip describing what to look for i will be sending my new cam back to comp. I checked the lobes and plain as day it has the chatter marks with two lobes being very obvious .

I ordered this 3-3-14, I'm glad i found out now before installing it,hopefully they wont give me any problem getting this squared away, either way there is no way this cam is going in like it is. I would have never thought to look for this. Thanks again Kip.

I took this vid with my cell phone ,hope it shows up on here , i can see them on my pc ok. These two were the worse ,but i can see the progressive flats on all of the lobes. Look at the mid point of the marker line.http://s905.photobucket.com/user/50B...77c08.mp4.html

(sorry about the buffering i cut the video short and turned down the res. just to make it work.)

Well finally started it up. No more whine!!!!!!!!
It's been awhile, since comp wouldn't send me another cam that's same to take the place of the one in there. (No stock cams laying around). So I purchased a btr stg 3 off a friend (new comp) and changed out to some dual springs. No other changes, and no more whine. Now just need to put back together and drive it.

Just finished my Comp Cam install last night and it sounds like I'm running a blower. I'll post a video shortly but it sounds like all the others on here.

Yeah, it's a '13 Grand Sport and I've only got 6000 miles on it. Not pleased.

My F13 has been in my car for many years and has whined since day one. I had heard at the time it was due to a "hollow cam core"?

No it does not matter if it is solid or hollow. Chatter will cause that whine WE replaced those for two years. We will still fix or replace if it is one of ours.

Just pulled a cam motion x2182-14 out of my TA because it has the same whine. I'll send it off next week sometime for repair or replacement.

Looks like I have the same issue. Finally a cure!

I was recently contacted by mchicia1 about this. In the past 3 years, I only put about 1,000 miles on the car, a lot has been going on in my life and the car just sat. I moved to another state for a job with my family and the car was in storage for a while. With the crappy winter here in Erie, PA, not much motivation to work on cars.

Life and work has settled down now and I can start having some fun again and get back into cars again . I need to read through this post again and see how I can get my car fixed. I bought a comp cam through Texas Speed but I can't find my receipt but I do have the original cam box with the cam sticker specs and other info.

mchicia1, could you email or PM me your phone number, I'd like to chat with you about all this.

Here is the post I did about my car 3 years ago:

Thank you Comp Cams! You're a class act, and thanks to Martin at Tick Performance as well for helping me through the process!!

You might post a close up photo of a couple lobes to the thread, as it would be very difficult to see.
