switched to synthetic oil, now getting knock codes
I was using regular oil for about 12k miles. i decided to start using mobil 1 synthetic oil and now my car keeps get getting a knock sensor code. It comes on for a couple of days then goes away dor a couple of days.
I can actually here the engine knock. Has this happened to anyone else?
Will this hurt my motor?
please help. It's driving me crazy.
p.s. my gas milegage has gone down @ 5 mpg.

Did you change viscosity? I cant imagine any issue caused by M1, i've been running it for years and found the opposite of what you describe. Sounds like a coincidence that your getting codes.

I dont' think that the oil cuased teh problem.. unless you forgot to fill it. J/K, I'd find someone with an autotap, see what's going on, I've never heard of anyone switching to aynthetic and having that happen... whatever went wrong, just happen to go wrong at that time.

i haven't tuned it since i put on the headers, ORY. i think it's running rich. maybe that's causing some problems. i will be getting it tuned soon. i'll have them look into it

this same thing is happening to me, I just bought my car and after I changed the oil to Mobil 1 synthetic, I am now getting a knock / ticking noise, I have heard that this is common on LS1's but I am not sure. I am going to change the oil again to clean it out from what was previously used. Another thing the only difference between you and me is that I'm not getting any knock codes.

Must Have Made A Mistake When They Typed The Label.
I'm Starting To Think This A Fuel Problem. A Co-worker Was Behind Me Yesterday On The Way Home. He Said When I Got Down On It A Lot Of Black Smoke Came Out The Pipes.
