i think the 224 r is ground on xer lobes so they are more agressive.alittle more power but rougher on springs.if you don't mind your car idling alittle rougher and are looking for the most power get xer on a 112. smooth and more durable but less power get the xe on a 114.

From the countless threads I remember reading before choosing my cam...I remember most stating they wished they'd had all gone bigger with that "baby" cam. Doesn't answer the question but I had to throw that in their.

Yeah, I am one of those guys..lol Those little 224's are great cams. But they only give you just a little taste of what most of us want.

yeah ive read that quite abit lol im actually looking into a tick stage 1 turbo cam with 226/226 .600/.600 114 cam but i was at first looking into 224 cams but then was researching more and have been told the XER lobes are a bit harsh for turbo cars. but I was pretty close at one point of buying a TSP 224R cam.

Dont get to wraped up in the numbers. That cam is not much different than the all of the other 224's.

Well based on my personal experience since I've used both lobes, I prefer XE for FI applications. Since it is force fed, lift is not so important and one should let the boost do the work.
Ramp rate variance on XE is 53 while XER is 49.

I'd think the LXL lobes on that Tick cam would be even better than XE. EPS lobes (LSG) are also a good candidate.

From point of making power I believe you're right but I'm not a fan of high lifts on FI for reliability. I do not like heavy valve-train, so I'm a bit conservative (unless it is not a DD)

I agree. I'd look at a ZR1 or ZL1 cam as well for FI. Reliability is there since they are OE.
