Default These lifters look decent?

Lunati 72432

Anyone have any experience with these? They look like a good lifter and measure approx. 2-15/16" in length...but the stock lifters measure 2-5/8" in length...will there be any problems with this? Let me know your thoughts.

You can get a set of GM stock replacements for around 100 bucks.

Thats what I did.

Dont mean to sound like a dick, but that didnt even come close to answer my question. I already own these lifters...just want to know if anyone has had any experience with them and/or if they look like a decent design. Plus, I want some decent lifters cuz this is what happened to my stock "GM" lifters...

Looks like you got another Futral Motorsports (CAM MOTION) defective cam. Those stockers should have been fine with that cam.

As far as the Lifters go, you got your self a gold mine. Those Lunati Lifters are actually the Morel Lifters. Morel supplied Lunati with those lifters a couple years ago. So, expect only the best.

best Regards,
Adrian

Awesome...I had heard rumors amount that, but wasnt sure if it was true. The lifters themselves have no markings or anything on them...wouldnt even know they were Lunati if they hadnt come in the Lunati box.

So if they are a Morel equvilent, then why dont more people have them?

Those are Morels. Note the oil band is angle in starting from the bottom to the top. Much better oil control.

That's cool as hell that they are Morels, I would assume you'd need a shorter pushrod. What size pushrod you running now?

I wonder if the preload has to be more or something...I wouldnt think you would have to get a pushrod that was about 1/4" shorter right? I WAS running the 7.400" pushrod with stock heads and the F13, but now that I have the AFR's milled .024 and the Cometic .040", I dont know what to get...I have a PR length checker here to make that check....but like I was saying, it seems odd to replace it with that much of a shorter pushrod?

What do others think about this? Any other Morel users?

Good thing is that I got these lifters for like $380 shipped

Also the morels like around .030 preload from what I hear, whereas the OEM and other manufatures like anywhere from .050 to .120

I have been finding that the .030 preload is what is recommended for the Morels...Afterall, Lunati told me .030-.040 would be ideal, but dont go over .050. I think if its anywhere between .030 and .050 I'll be happy....I just dont want to order new pushrods...ah well..spent over $2k already on this mess...whats another $100 on pushrods?

Best way to check is to use the PR length checker. Just make sure that the lifter is on the base circle of the cam lobe, throw the pr checker in there torque down your rocker, then open the checker until you hit ZERO lash. Zero lash is when it JUST hits the bottom of the rocker base, with no pressure. Then, just add .030 to your measured length. I ended up having to run 7.275 in pushrods on unmilled LS6 style heads with MLS gaskets. That left me with .025 preload, because 7.28 would have gotten me .030, but I couldn't get any.

Best of Luck!
Adrian

Lunati gave you the correct numbers. Chris told me the lifter body is longer, but the length from roller tip to lifter cup is the same as stock. Still, since your preload must change and the range is much tighter to control, you will need new pushrods. I have Crane adjustable rockers, so my installation will be a little easier with regards to controlling the lifter preload setting.

My Morel's came in the other day

Good luck with your installation, let us know how you make out with the lifters.

Thanks for that info. I should have the F13 cam this week...or at least I hope I will get it this week. Then I can start re-assembling everything. It's funny how I cant do anything with the car until I have the cam back and installed.

Where did you get the lifters from? I checked a few sponsors and couldn't find anything.

I got them from WS6store.com...I have only found a few sites that have them. I snagged their last set unless they got more in stock since then.
