Alright thanks guys. I dont really need ton of low end because the 4.10s spin up rpms fast enough. I will look into the 112+4 and call them. Appreciate it guys.

You must have rod bolts at least right? I am just being a pansy not wanting to rev above 6500 rpm? I know the 02s are supposed to have decent rod bolts but some guys with rev limiters at 7000

I swear that I read somewhere that GM tested these engines and they were capable of holding 7000 plus rpms continuosly for some rediculous amount of time without damage.

If the limter is set at 6100 rpm's when stock...I wonder how much after that would cause damage? It doesnt seem like another 5 or 6 hundred rpm is all that much more. I doubt gm set the limiter on the ragged edge of the motors limits....that would be really stupid, but then again, they put a 10 bolt in them

The m6 2002's i know had a 6200 rev limit. The rod bolts are the same as the ls6 got, and it comes with a stock 6500 rev limit.

From a scientific standpoint, it is because you're dealing with velocity.

But I understand you're thinking on GM being safe. Myself I ran a motor shifting the TR224 at 6600 for 3 years, only the pistons were forged, everything else was stock. A valvspring broke on me and wiped out a piston so now I have a forged shortblock to be safe ( stock crank ).

There are many LT1 owners out there with cam and ported heads spinning their OEM shortblocks to 6900-7000 with no problems. Even with the weaker bolts on the 97-00 LS1's, I can't imagine any LS1 not holding up as well as an LT1, especially since the stock LS1 rods and cranks are stronger and have lighter pistons then the LT1's do. For a good running LS1, it makes no sense that you can't spin them past 6500 for typical drag racing. The only thing you need to insure is good oil pressure.

I have 95k but still see 70psi of oil pressure at WOT, and I plan on keeping mine below 7000 just to be safe when I put a cam in it.

Ok because I have good oil pressure I think. Around 55 at idle then over 60 for normal driving and 80 at wot. There is no such thing as too high oil pressure on these cars is there? Cus I max out the oil pressure gauge at WOT.
