F13 Cam shifting?
What rpm do you guys shift at? With F13, TR230, or MTI x1 or anything similar? I am trying to figure out if F13 be too big because I am scared to go over 6500 with stock bottom end . Dont want to run big cam if I am wasting it by shifting too soon. Thanks everyone

I would guess that an FM13 would work alright with a shift point at or below 6500. It's not all that big. If the search function works properly again search the dyno results and comparison forum, as well as this one, for graphs to see where the power is peaking.
You should be able to get away with a little more rpm than that with an '02.
You could always contact Futral, I am sure they will be more than happy to answer any questions you have and make a recommendation for your specific application.

I run the F13 on a 112 LSA. I don't have a dyno sheet with the current tune, so I'm not positive where it peaks now. On the original tune it peaked at 6500, and at 6600 with my cutout open. At the track I have my shift light set at 6500, so I probably shift it at 6600 rpm.

OK thanks, Ru do you like the cam? Would you change it? Do you worry at all bout running at high rpms? So if it pulls up to 6700 wouldnt it be better to have a smaller cam where more of it is used Thanks guys keep it comin

Maybe if I got the FM13 on 112+4 the power would come earlier so I could shift at 6500 without losing much or should I get a smaller cam because of the rpm I want to shift at?

Sounds like my dilemma.
I know what your saying though. It would be good to shift right before it starts falling off so when you hit the next gear the cam is still in its sweet spot.
From what I gathered I think I am gonna go with the f11 112 +4. Have the shift light set at 6400....so I will probably be shifting at 6500 or so. Then have the limiter at 6600.
I will feel safe and confident with that. I got a 98 bottom end with 90k on it....so I REALLY dont want to go past 6500.

Not shifting above 6500 is the reason I went with a F11 instead of the F13. My F11 113+3 peaks at 6300.
After my extremely poor experience with Futral and what's happening with their cams right now ,I wouldn't even consider a Futral cam if I had it to do all over again.
If you want to stay under 6500 but use every bit of it , stay under 230 duration on the intake and keep the intake valve closing around 43 - 44* ABDC.

Hey guits would shifting the f13 at 6500 be too short? Im starting to think I should get a smaller cam so I use all of it instead of the F13 and short shiftiing it since this is my dd dont want to go crazy with the rpms but then again that will only be during racing so maybe only few times a week The tr230 and FM13 pretty close in power right? Still not sure. I appreciate the help everyone.

I love the cam. I'm still on stock gears and have no driveability issues with the car. I had the same concerns as you, didn't want to spin it to high, but I was debating a F13 or larger. I chose the F13 because I didn't want to spin it to X3 level, but I might consider that in the future.
Call Futral, if you're very concerned about shifting above 6500 talk to them about, see what they think you'll be giving up. Maybe they could custom grind a cam for you to keep the power down a bit more.
