Default Losing oil after cam swap

I installed the TR 224 cam, 918 springs, TR pushrods, ls6 oil pump, and ls2 timing chain around the end of January. I'm losing quite a bit of oil...but there are no leaks, and when it has enough oil there is excellent pressure. So, I'm thinking it has to be burning off somewhere, any ideas on where it could be or if it's something else? Thanks

Tyler

All of my cams have burned some serious oil afterwards. Get a catch can to see if you are sucking it up into the intake or upgrade to the LS6 style PCV.

Or remove your PCV althgather.

Also, How certain are you that youre valve seals were pushed on correctly. Did you feel them "snap" or "click" on into place?

I didn't even mess with the valve seals so they should have stayed correctly in place. Before the cam it never burned any oil. Thanks for the help guys

I was told that if you get rid of the pcv all together, your crank case cant breath or vent properly when you reach higher rpms. Is this incorrect? I am sure there is some sort of con to removing the pcv system when it was designed to be there, no?

hmmm, I've heard of people upgrading to an LS6 pcv or similar but not removing it. How will that help with the oil consumption...do you have any links? Thanks!

I have heard of all 3 once again FWIW. I would just go to Ls6 style.

I may try replacing the valve seals when I can get the time and see if that works. It just doesn't make sense to me that the pcv would be the cause of the oil consumption because it didn't consume a drop before the cam swap. Thanks for the help guys

Before the advent of the EPA the crankcase pressure was bled directly into the atmosphere rather than back into the engine. Fuel and Alcohol still do this on the dragstrip, but they use a puke bottle to catch the excess. A PVC is just a one-way check valve.

Since Ive converted to breathers, ive noticed a lot more nasty yellow foam under the oil cap. It looks like condensation, but i take very few short trips in the car. Im not losing any coolant. Will this corrode the metal in my engine by not evacuating the crankcase of any fumes or moisture?
