Default stinkin' cometics

got the motor done today...fired it up...ran good...until...

I find milky oil

F'in cometic gaskets leaked

Ripped it back apart. found nothing unusual, but I'm spraying with the copper sealant and retorquing the studs down again

The ETP headed motor does sound healthy though

something should've told me it wasn't right when I added the coolant and it self-bled itself. normally you have to blow on the rad opening until it comes out the top hose...it came right out immediately...

I bought Cometics for my head setup...I hope that I dont have that problem. Does Cometic recommend going on dry or with a copper spray?

That is why I went with SCE ICS titans to get the .043 I was looking for. I've heard way too many horror stories with cometics... and that besides the issues I've had in the past with them and other cars. I don't know if they are finicky or what. But I'm not using them again with other options.

exactly....Its bad enough having to do something like a head install twice due to your own boneheaded mistake, but it would REALLY **** me off if i had to do it again because of a part issue....

I have heard nothing good about the cometic gaskets as far as sealing up. I went with some MLS GM gaskets with my new setup for that reason, last thing i need is to yank the heads again because of a leaking head gasket that could have been avoid all together the first time around.

Fireball, whats the new combo your running?

I'm hopeing to run mid to low 10s NA with mine but it will be a tough challenge with a 347ci motor.

looks like I'm good now. pulled it apart, cleaned it up, and copper coated the gaskets. Torqued them bitches down to 75 ft-lb

Looks like its holding coolant pressure now. The rental tool I got sorta sucks and has a very tiny leak at the cap, but it was losing pressure very very slowly. heard nothing coming from the motor either leak wise @ 15 psi pressure.
