Default Hot Cam for LS1

Does anyone know about how much horsepower a hot cam will give a 1997-1998 LS1 Corvette or Camaro? My friend and I were wondering, because if he likes the figures, he might trade his LT4 Vette in for a 97-98 6 speed Vette, and I am curious since I am purchasing a 98 Camaro Z28. Thanks.-Jon

Limiting yourself to a Hot Cam would be very limiting indeed. It will net you anywhere from 365-390 rwhp depending on bolt-ons. Aggressive cam-only setups are netting 415-440ish rwhp. There's many, many, many, many cam options to choose from.

well we're just wondering how much a hot cam will give us before we start adding. he will probably end up with more mods and horses than me, at least for the time being, since i have problems with gas money right now, and a $980 fee coming up that I have to pay for a 30,000 mile tranny to be installed in my V6 Camaro so I can drive it until I get the Z28

to really benefit a cam you need all the major bolt ons (headers, the rest of your exhaust, LS6 or FAST intake) and most people want more cam once they have the hot cam, just my two cents
