Motor Destroyed. Needs opinions.
Alright guys. Well my oil pump went out on me a few days ago and unfortunately i wasn't paying attention to the pressure gauge until i heard some pretty wicked noises comming from the motor . Now my Question is this.....
Should i rebuild the motor, maybe with some upgraded parts?
or just buy a whole new motor completely, maybe even look into a stroker motor. not looking to spend anything over 5k, so all options would be great. IM OPEN TO ANY IDEAS, so throw em at me!

Stroker might be a bIT out of price range unless i find a good deal on one somewhere. Just want to know what some of you guys with more experience would do in my shoes.

IMO I'd go with a shortblock from one of our sponsors. If you can afford a bit more you can get a nice stroker motor, heads/cam and all. Call around, or pickup the latest GM High Tech Performance, theres an article devoted to crate engines and a nice LS1 section, and most of the companies listed are sponsers here

Are you going to do the "replacement" work yourself or have a shop do it? If you use a shop the price they give could include labor which you must put into the picture of overall expense. If you and your buddies are going to do an install, then what about a crate engine or a good used one, there are many yards that have good engines. What ever you decide make sure you figure all the little things as they add up quick.

I'd talk to your local machine shop also. If you don't want to spend more than 5k then getting your factory short block redone stands a good chance of being the cheapest providing a couple factors. Can the crank be turned and are the bores ok to hone and reuse stock bore pistons? Just depends and you gotta get it apart to see.
