Default LS6 PCV Conversion?

I was looking at the thunder racing site and saw the LS6 pcv conversion. Then i researched it here and I think that this may solve my oil consumption problem. I just have one question, on the thunder racing site it said that 98-2000 blocks may need grinding? I have an 01 so does that mean I wont have to grind on my block? I saw the ls1 how-to article on this and that says all ls1 engines? Can someone clarify this for me? thanks

You'll need to check the casting numbers to see if you have an LS6 block or not.

LS6 Block = No grinding
LS1 Block = Grinding

I was lucky and got an LS6 block and it makes it a very easy swap. Can't comment on the consumption problem as mine has not burned any noticeable amount since day one.

If you have an LS6 block, wouldn't you already have the LS6 valley cover? Same with 01/02 LS1s? OR did they not put that Valley cover on the Camaros?

97-00 blocks need to have that thing ground off.

No, all F-bods had the LS1 valley. I had to grind/cut on my block to get the LS6 valley in. Used a sawzall and air cutoff tool. Can't say that the LS6 valley made any difference in oil consumption though, my catch can does for sure though.

It's a pretty easy job.

Nope, not true. My 2000 block did not need grinding. It just depends on when your block was cast. My engine was late 2000, so it has most of the 01 changes on it (like 241 heads).

And the LS6 valley cover may not cure oil problems, although I think it helped a little. I still use a homemade catch can.

I have a '00 Trans Am and didn't have to grind the block either. Nice surprise for me. Also, the LS6 conversion isn't the fix of all fixes, at least not on my car. I'm still having to run a catch can.

the numbers are just to the outside of the flywheel. You have to pull your tranny and bellhouseing to see them.

Even if you have a normal LS1 block you may not have to grind. It just depends on what block you have. HavaTampa and myself have 2000 cars and neither of us had to grind (and we don't have LS6 blocks).
