If you want more power under 6000 I would look into a different cam all together. Look at the torque comming out of my ears thread. I just got done tunning a 233/239 in a 2500 4wd HD Silverado. It has MTI 2e heads. Not to much torque down low for sure. Fells like stock till about 2800. It comes alive and likes to pull past 6500. I have his shifting at 6900 out of first and 6700 out of second gear. Idles nice at 625 in gear warm.

If you don't spin it to at least 6300, you're not going to be using all of the cam, so you may want to research a little more. Even the TSP 224R and 228R top out at 6300, and they are good street cams: plenty of power and relatively easy on the vlavetrain. It sounds like you might want the Torquer v2 instead of the 233/239 or the MS3, if you really want a big cam that torques up early...
Personally, I really like the 233/239, but I plan on spinning to 6500, with Rev Limit set at 6700, maybe 6800. But I also plan to replace the rod bolts and put in Morel Lifters.
[EDIT] Ha, ha. We must have been posting about the same time; sounds like good advice to me...

I am just sick of looking at so many cams, ive been researching for like 4 months and still cant decide....... im afraid of going to small, and afraid of going too big and not having enough power where i want it. I planned on not spinning past 6000 because i didnt think stock heads, rockers etc. could take it but where are u cam only guys spinning to and is it too risky to spin to about 6400 with the 233/239 and eveyrthing that comes with the cam kit (springs, pushrods) but with stock everything else

[EDIT] ...another way to look at it is, sure you can get a monster cam, but would it be matched well to your set up (10-bolt rear, stock bottom end, etc.)? If you don't think 400+ HP will be enough, get some taller gears (3.73 or 4.10), and you'll be a lot quicker and even big cams become streetable.

sorry man, but I have to call BS on that. With out LT's or anyother mods besides the cam and pulley (especially without LT's) I cant see a LS1 dynoing 400rwhp. 380 would be more believable. If it truely happened, more power to the car and it must have under 20k miles.
I would get the 233/239 or MS3 over the 224 or 228 cam. I have a 223/226 and am wanting to get the MS3. Just know, whatever cam you go with, you will be wanting a bigger one later on down the road. Also, consider what you are wanting to do with your car later on. If nitrous is in your future, I would go with the MS3. If your going more N/A, I would go with the 233/239 on a 112 lsa. Hope this helps.

If your going to 233/239 anyway just go to the ms3. You are getting 4.10 gears and spraying, easy choice.
I plan on DD my ms3 zo6. Going to see how my 3.42 gears do. I think I should be ok because zo6 tranny is geared a little more aggressive so it should act like a 3.90 car.

The car was a 2000 Camaro SS, no LT's but some other mods and a wierd MagnaFlo exhaust with one side straight out, and one side through the muffler. It was at F-body Central in Baltimore. They did a cam and pulley swap only (no heads was my point). Brett, the tuner, got it to 396 rwhp with three passes on the Mustang Dyno with LS1 edit. What's the point of making it up???

Torquer 2 should peak at 6400 w/ stock cylinder heads. The 233/239 is more like 6500 or so. I only feel comfortable shifting at 6500 and both of those cams can go to 6800 before they fall off so its a tough choice. You could shift earlier but as mentioned before you wont be getting the most out of what you've got. The 228R looks like a nice compromise shifting in the lower 6000's while still making respectable power.

I'm in the same boat trying to decide which one to run. Right now, I'm leaning toward the 233/239. However, I plan to regear shortly after the heads/cam go in.
That should help out a bit.

Dyno Tuned by Speed Inc. I was told there tuning was good and told it was bad, but you know how that goes everybody has a story. I dont have too much to compare against with an unlocked converter, I've heard thats worth 3 RWHP and I've heard 15-20, so who knows. They used H.P. Tuners.
