Default Self installing cam?

What can go wrong? I have a day for it to go into the shop for the install, cam, timing chain, oil pump, rods, dual springs, titanium retainers. I didnt know too much about the install...but i just installed a LS6 intake manifold in about 2 hours...and while i had it off, it seemed like the cam wouldnt take more than a weekend. I'm only worried about something going wrong, only thing is, i'm not sure what. Anyone have any install nightmares or know of any potential hazards for a first timer like me?

Yeah, what he said. I lost about 4 locks that hold the spring retainers on. Buy some extra's just in case.

Oh yeah. You have to take the bolts out of the oil pan to get the bolt out of the oil pick up tube connected to the oil pump. It is easy to drop the bolt in the pan. Put a few rags in the pan were you can see them. If the bolt falls it will be right there were you can get it.

That bolt in the oil pump pickup tube gave me fits... UNTIL... I wrapped a small piece of solder around it to hold it in place. IT was flexible enough to get it where I needed it to go. But firm enough to hold it there. Worked like a charm. 5 minute deal after that.

make sure you dont leave any rags in the oil pan. There was a guy on here not long ago who did that and I am sure he is still kicking stuff. poor guy!

If you have the time, work on it yourself. The satisfaction of being able to pull off all those installs is a great feeling.

i agree with almost everyone on the pick up tube bolt. that was a total bitch, and definitley have extra locks i found out the hard way at around 750 pm on a saturday night. and if u go through with the install get a 10mm gear and a GOOD vavle spring cpmpressor. here are some how to's to get a basic idea if you havent seen them yet.

Unless you know how to be precise and have torque specs and have 2 days you might wanna hand it over to people that you can point fingers at if its not done right. especially when you go into the valvetrain. I promise especially when you lose valve locks or drop crap inside the heads by accident. you'll wish you had the extra knowledge
