Default Should I send my heads to Gunnar or not?

I have a stock set of 241 heads and am wanting to get them ported and polished by Patriot Performance. I will be running them with the MS3 and LS6 intake. Money is an issue and I know they charge 650 as that is all I have to spend.

Is it worth it or will I not see too much of a difference? I am going to stay stock valves as well. Anybody done this before? Thanks in advance

I've sent them my 243 castings, and everything went smooth. If ur really strapped for cash u could just port them yourself. With a decent do it urself port, you could probably net around 15-20 hp w/ no milling and stock valves. You could expect a good bit more w/ the cnc ports though. HP = Money

I don't want to port them myself cause I don't want to ruin the heads. I think 650 would not be a bad beal though, if it will net me 20 hp.

You'll prolly have more than 20 w/ the cnc work. Call Gunnar and I'm sure he'll set u straight and give u a better/closer number as far as the hp gain.

he said he can get them to flow around the 290's at 600. That sounds like a hell of a deal to me. Can't beat that for 650.

I also heard that TSP does them for 400. Is there anything different about the 2? Why is TSP's so much cheaper?

Those look awesome! I will have to check out what TSP says though and verify the pricing. I am a little tight on money right now, so 400 bucks sounds a lot better

I'd check with both TSP and TEA as well. All three are competively priced and all three are noted to have a decent track record. Patriot had a scare a year or two back with their LS6 style heads but that is neithor here or now. I'd say talk to them and see what they can do for you.

$650 is a good price at Patriot. I know TSP will give you a good price as well. The gains will be worth the money spent.

it will be a total of 725 with TSP. I think I may have to go that route since they have been great to me before

Is that with valve upgrade too or just for the CNCing?

I have a set of already ported AS heads, I have been wondering if I could send them to one of these other shops to have htem CNC'd to see if that would catch any part that has not already been done. Also wanted to do a valve upgrade to put on my 383 im building.

What made you decide to go with TSP instead of Patriot since TSP quoted you higher?
