Default Is this cam worth the install

one of my buddys has a cam that he is willing to sell to me for 100 bucks. i am just wondering if it is going to be worth the hassel of installing it and spending the money to get it. ie how much power can i expect to gain what kind of driability issue would i have for a dally driver. and info would be great.
here are the specs:

Duration at .050 Intake 228 Exhaust 232
Lobe Lift Intake .3460 Exhaust .3380
Lobe separtatoin 114.0

my mods are in my sig and i just put a 100 dry shot on this weekend. if you need any other info i have the cam card just let me know. I really appriciate any help i can get. can afford to waist any money i don't have much so i have to strech it pretty thin so i can go fast

i'd say that camshaft would respond pretty well to nitrous, besides it's better than stock right? also an ls6 intake wouldn't hurt either in your near future.

that cam should pick you up 20-25hp over stock and the spray will love it too.

i'd get PRC dual springs for safety, obviously new hardened pushrods, gaskets, timing chain and ported ls6 oil pump wouldn't hurt ya either, just to be safe, better to be safe now than really sorry and broke with no car later

That looks like the same cam I have..... .588 .574 228 232 114

you'll love the idle...and I didn't see headers in your sig but they'll help too when you can swing them....

you will need tuning.....and you'll likely max your injectors or be really close....mine (stock 26'ers) were at 112 DC at 6300 rpm

here's my whole set-up for comparison:
99 TA A4
hand ported 241 heads (not much gain)
above cam
LS1 intake
38lb svo injectors
Walbro 255L pump
NOS 100 dry
Lid
Pacesetter LT's & ORY & cutout
TCI SSF3500 stall
3.23 gears
3730 raceweight

I went 11.65 @ 118.xx so far spinning my ET streets to a 1.75 60'....best 60' is a 1.65 with a stone stock suspension....hoping a new set of ET drags will hook to around a 1.60 maybe a high 1.5....

Good luck with the cam....I think you'll enjoy it in an M6....

if your friend can't get you the long tubes, look into uncoated pacesetters they will last 10 yrs or so and only are 2xx dollars.

so what are the best springs and push rods for this set up. and where can i find them cheap. i when to the strip friday and was very disappointed best i could manage was a 8.9 with a 2.33 60' but i was getting really really bad launches. i just need to see how much i am going to have to spend in extras so that i can install this cam. got to work the budget(wife) so i can swing the cam and stuff to install it.

That cam shaft, with all the bolt ons, should put you near 375-380 rwhp (with a good dyno tune). It should also respond well with that 100 shot and on N20 should put you near 500 rwhp, whihc would be sick on the street and the track. Id say with that cam to go with a minimum of comp 918 valve springs and some hardened pushrods. In addition id say go with an ls2 timing chanin to replace the stocker. That should be good for the valvetrain though. Might also want to look into some bigger injectors if your going to be running that cam and a 100 shot. Good luck though and sounds like a stout combo!

Id check texas speed or byunspeed for the valvetrain components as both give great prices and service, and I know byunspeed will meet and beat just about any price out there.

918 springs
7.425 pushrods.......I did the math and these are what mine needs (I run stockers now) I have a bit of valve train noise with them...not too bad though
LS2 timing chain (cheap)
LS6 oil pump (might as well since your there anyway)...look for a low milage one on the forums here...cheap
Cam change gasket set....
At least 36lb injectors....for the spray and cam and the future...I run 38lbers....
You will need tuning.....my car wouldn't even start up on the stock tune...YMMV

You may also want to upgrade the rod bolts at some point so you can spin the motor a bit higher as that cam likes rpm....I shift at 6300 and limit mine to 6700 on the stock bolts....

My car hasn't been on a dyno but doing the math from the trap speed and raceweight it puts down around 400 to the tires NA and about 500ish on the 100 shot....

your car will only get better as you add stuff like headers, and stuff...
