I saw the HP difference with RP on HP TV when they did the camparison, so I started using that when I got my Z. Of course, since I bought it with a ringland problem, it was eating oil like it was it's freakin job. I'll see if I see any difference after the engine swap is complete. I doubt I will, and if I don't, I'm definately not spending the extra couple $ per quart for RP.

I just switched to 0W30 in my 2005 GMC Sierra 5.3 V8 and in the good ol' LT1. Both cars run much smoother. I will continue to use GC 0W30.
After 3000 miles in the Sierra, I will be sending in the oil to be analyzed just to check things out.

I've used mobil 1 and rp 5w 30 and I can definately tell the royal purple is a much better oil. On my next oil change I'm going to try out some GC 0w-30 though and see if its really the best

RP 10W40 seems to work best on my car. I went thru a lot of M1. As soon as I switched my oil consumption went away. I tried the 5-30, and went thru a little bit. My car has high miles, and the 10W40 works best on my car, but it doesn't mean that it will work best on yours. you have to play around a litttle bit to find what your car wants.

GC 0w30 problem solved and much smoother running afterwards no lie. GC is the best and im sticking to it, m1 sucks its to thin, the 5w40 is suposed to be ok but im not useing it.
I agree 100%

5w30 was being depleted rather quickly in my high mileage application here too...last oil change I went with 10w30 and it reduced the consumption somewhat...how do you guys feel about substituting one qt of oil with a qt of Lucas?

i used to run Mobil 1 0W40. i have a case of Royal Purple 5W30 sitting in the trunk ready to try. i've never tried german castrol cause i don't know how to differentiate it from regular castrol. i've heard excellent things about royal purple but i'm still not convinced its better then Mobil 1. i'll find out next week though
