Default Ticking, Knocking noise! checked pushrods?

I read thru the forums and ever one states that the noise is pushrods! It comes from the the driver side only so I opened up the vavle cover and checked all the pushrods. They were all good. It started as a very suttle knock after I busted a small donut down the street. Thought I had it under control but once those tires broke loose it maxxxed out, so I let off and it has been slowly getting Louder each day (1995 Camaro Z28)

Rocker arm bearings? Do you smell exhaust in the engine bay at all?

Not that I can tell. I am gunna put my valve cover back on today if it doesnt rain and check my plugs. But it sounded like it was coming from that damn driver side valve cover instead of under the headers.

For the longest time I had a really annoying tick that I had suggestions from a bent rod, rocker arm bearings, to a dead cylinder. In the end it was nothing more than a lose AIR block off plate that was bouncing up and down heh. Yeah, I would feel around your plugs and see if any are loose. Possible it may be a header/manifold gasket too.

Haha, you beat me to it. I was going to reference my thread also. Check the damn plugs, if that isn't it, at least you ruled out that possibility. Ticking soud = super annoying.

I noticed a different valve train sound for about a month. I checked everything I could check. Then a month later a rocker arm lost its needle bearings.

Other things to check:

AIR system
Make sure plugs are tight
Pushrods / Rocker arms
Valve Springs
Lifters

A nightmare. Gotta yank the heads to check on those as far as I know, and - judging from just the work it'd take to do the valvetrain, heads are no fun heh. Im only assuming btw, since I was afraid I might have to check MY lifters at one point, and it ended up being something stupid. Ive been told left and right, that the lifters should be the last thing to check. You checked all your spark plugs?

Yeah, check the easiest things first, theres no reason to pull the heads and check the lifters, when you have a bad plug or plug wire.

But to check the lifter, you will have to pull the heads.

Lifters are in the rectangular holes at the top.

-Your car will tick loudly/idle poorly...
-May cause it to run rich with this situation
-Running rich can fowl out plugs and ruin O2's if it is bad enough

With the right tools

http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...g_and_wire.htm

or

Most people / write ups will say use and extension/swivel, but the 2x I have done it, I can just reach back there and get it.

I do not have small arms by any means, but they may be longer than other peoples. I start at the front of the engine, and reach right along it, under the coil packs (slightly left/lower than the vavle covers), and I can reach it from infront of the car. (Using my left arm) Using this method / similar method, I can change all the plugs with a standard 3/8 ratchet and spark plug socket.

Just a little ambition, changing/checking plugs is heaven once you get some headers on

Come on, dont hate. Its all in the family. I was wondering if it turns out to be a rod about to go where is a good place to start looking for a crate engine? If I gotta do it over again i am gunna do it right Get as much as I can out of this car. Or maybe drop an LS1 instead of the LT1 (if at all possible)
