It has a red top on it, but I'm spraying that black. Nothing great for looks, but it'll keep crap out of my intake.

I didn't pony up for the LS6 valley cover when I put the new engine in

I used an LS6 valley cover but before I got it I was considering bending up some aluminum baffles and welding it on the underside of the LS1 valley cover and then drilling and taping for a fitting to go on the cover above the baffles and using a LS6 PVC to connect it and the throttle body..kind of a home made LS6 valley cover..I don't see any reason why it would not work the same as the LS6 valery cover..

Ditched it! It pissed me off know I spent close to $1000 on an intake to see if full of oil. I run two small breathers, one on the pass side and one on the drivers side. they tuck in real nice to. You can even really seem the pass side one. Capped off the intake port and left the fresh air tube.

Not trying to hijack your thread but got a quick question. Did yall leave the fresh air tube? or ditch it to? Im thinking about losing mine and capping it off.

The coil pacs are bundled together in four coil bricks and mounted up under the cowl on each side..used LT1 plug wires shortened to fit the new location..I have a friend who is getting ready to market the coil relocation kits..if you need more info just let me know and I'll hook you up with him since he is not a paid vendor on here yet..just send me a PM

yes it's normal... all the fast ones smoke some. That oil smell, that is the oil vapor that was coating your intake with crap... be glad that it's not polluting your intake charge!

Are you talking about the (filter) breather?? I run one on the drivers side and that is it.

Can some of you guys please post pics of your setups?? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to rig it up, since the metal nipples off of the valve covers are at a right angle, and there doesn't seem to be a good place to put the breather.

I do not run stock valve covers..I use a K&N breather on the pass side valve cover and I use a LS6 valley cover and LS6 PVC to connect the valley cover to the throttle body..

Thanks for the offer...think I got it though, I rigged up my own system.

I basically just pulled the PCV line off of the TB and adapted a breather filter to it with a piece of 7/16 metal line. So the whole PCV system is still entact, it just doesn't vent to the TB.

You guys think my setup is okay for the motor?? Don't want to mess anything up...

I noticed oil in my intake awhile back too. So I did the air compressor catch can thing and caught the oil in that, but driving the car hard let alot of it pass still getting into the intake. Now that my motor is out I thought about running a hose from my exhaust collector to the valve covers. This way at high rpm plus the angle of the inlet on the exhauset collector will pull a singnificant vacuum on the crankcase. Just wondering if anyone has tried this on an LSX engine. Seen it on alot of older sbc's.

Yes, I have removed my PCV system
I have a four stage dry sump pump that takes care of evacuating the crank case.
In case that fails, or the pump isn't strong enough, there is a blow off valve with a catch can.

I don't think that the ls1 valve covers are tall enough, I beleive that it would pull oil out of the head and smoke due to the hot exhaust especially without some type of baffle. Buddy of mine tried it on his circle track car(SBC) his valve covers were about 1/2 shorter than the other guys running it, his smoked theirs didn't(still taller than a ls1 cover). We took the evac. system off and instantly the smoke was gone. Maybe the short valve covers are why ls1's pull so much oil any way? Hope this helps.
