What components are needed to make an ls1 rev out to say 8000rpm? Is this an unrealistic goal?

well, I guess the question here is what cam will still make power in that rpm range to make it worth wild.

At least you would need a good dual spring combo to resist valve float, as well as a full roller set of rockers, like a jesel shaft mounted.

Any one else?/

You need a built bottom end, mainly rod bolts. Not many cam's make power @ 8000rpms so it's pointless to spin that high, unless you have a cam that makes power that high. Just because all the imports spin their engines to the moon doesn't mean the ls1 has to.

dry sump oiling first and foremost.

then a forged/balanced bottom end and proper valvetrain.

Is there really even a reason to rev an all bore solid roller that high?

I'd disagree, I would do the bottom end first, then the dry sump.

I doubt you will be bending hardened chromoly pushrods.

Sell your car and get a DOHC import if you want to rev high. Our cars make PLENTY of power below 7k rpms. Are 9s and 10s not enough???

There are 2 issues...
1.) physically holding the power, not blowing up
short stroke
solid roller
good rockers (jesel shaft mounts)
lightweight valvetrain
forged components
big bore!

2.) cylinder head flow, intake manifold and camshaft requirements
high flowing heads with massive ports
big solid roller (260+ @ .050)
sheet metal intake

The point is, you can go faster. In addition to making big hp, you can also stay in a given gear longer, using gearing to multiply torque. IE a car that makes 300 hp at 4000 rpms vs a car that makes 300 hp at 10k rpms will get walked all over. Extreme example I know.

This endeavour would not be for the faint of heart...and it would indeed be $$$. But man would it be fun!

UMM, Not true. When you figure out the torque values v/s RPM and gearing requied to put them at the same speed, they are both putting the same amount to the ground.
300 HP @ 4000 RPM = 393.3 ft-lbs
300 HP @ 10000 RPM = 157.56 ft-lbs
Now you use whatever assumptions you want for gearing/tire size to put both cars at the same speed making 300 HP and you'll see them accelerate at the same rate.

To save you the math HP = adding energy. Same HP = adding energy at the same rate.
