You might want to get someone that knows what they're doing to help you. There are no zeros or key holes. The terminology is: key, keyway, sprocket and "DOT". A little knowledge can be dangerous and you're on the verge of having your valves kiss you pistons. When that happens you're going to have to pull the entire top end down. Five bucks says if that happens the motor will never run again. You need to do a search for: Cam timing using the "DOT to DOT" method.

If you want to use the "DOT to DOT" method (called standard timing, no advance or retard other than what might be ground into the cam during manufacture) you put the cam sprocket DOT at 6 o'clock and the crank/oil pump drive sprocket DOT (center Keyway on the Key) at 12 o'clock. If you want to advance or retard your timing you must use one of the keyways other than the center one, but the cam sprocket DOT still stays at 6 o'clock. You will have to rotate the crankshaft a TINY bit to get the sprockets and chain to line up and go together and I do mean a tiny bit. This is an oversimplification of the advance retard process so if you're going to use anything other than standard DOT to DOT you better know for sure what you're doing.

the directions for that timing chain does not tell you to well on how to DOT to DOT it. My friend and I put one on his car and must have checked that thing over and over, as it is a crucial part of the install. We both thought it looked good, as per the sheet from SLP on hot it should be timed.

Long story short, he is now putting in an LS6 cause all the valves hit the pistons and broke through one.
