thanks

Good job on the fix. If the darn search went back farther than 1-1-06, you'd see this was discovered ( the o-ring issue ) several years ago.

All of the oil pumps are the same LS1 or LS6 no difference.. ..look like your oil pressure is right on now..but changing your stock push rod should be a priority for you..good luck ..

I have never noticed any difference in them or opened them up to look at the color of the springs..I just take them out of the box and bolt them on..have not noticed any difference in the performance of them..I always use a new o ring..anything that is in a critical area (not to mention very cheep in cost)and it so much work to replace at if it phuchs up is going to be new with me..

That was my understanding as well. And not only are the pumps different but there are two different style pickup tubes. One has a reciever groove, and one doesn't. The one with the groove needs the thicker O-ring, I think its a brown O-ring. The rest use the blue/green O-ring.

The oil pump on the LS 1 (97-04) and LS 6 (01-04) have the same part number..I work in a chevy dealer and looked it up on the computer just to confirm what I thought was the fact..

I don't know what to say, but how can we explain the many people that have gone from the pre-2001 pump to the LS6 pump and seen an increase in oil pressure? Is the spring available separately?

Not that I know of..I know that some people like to shim the oil pump spring for increased oil pressure..I have never had any problems with the stock pumps..I take em out the box and slap them on....They all seem to make the same pressure to me...a little over 40 at idle (45-50 lbs.)and a little over 60 (65-75 lbs.) at WFO ..

That's what I thought. And according to my sources (ACW's GM part# thread), the part numbers break down like so....

LS1 oil pump o-ring seal = 12557075
LS6 oil pump o-ring seal = 12557752
LS6 oil pump (replaces LS1 pump) = 12586666 (formerly 12586665, 12563964, 12556436)
slt200mph, maybe what you're seeing is the older part #'s being cross ref'd to the LS6 pump (12586666)?

GM did something similar with the exhaust manifold bolts. The new ones use a larger head and do not have the pointed tip to assist starting the threads. (A shittier bolt IMO lol) ....sorry for the tangent.

I am having the same problem. I recently installed 232/234 duration 595/598 lift with 918 springs, 7.4 pushrods, and comp lifters. Same knocking/ticking noise came from stock lifters with his cam. The noise only comes after car warms up, then it goes away. Anyone have any ideas?

yes, it sure did.... car runs great... very powerful and feels awesome! i love the cam!

the only problem i have now is... the entire reason i did this swap was b/c i was guzzling oil ... thought it was the vavle seals, so i was doing this all at once... however, i have all the new hardware in (of course) and the PCV blocked off right now, but i'm still blowing smoke out the tailpipes under WOT and high high rpms... when the compression was checked, it read 180 across teh board...
to add more info, the front two cylinders were teh two that had spark plugs caked in oil.... i have yet to pull the new plugs to see how they look, and i'm waiting to see if its still consuming oil, not just burning leftover ****....
however, if i'm still consuming oil, wtf could it be??

Glad to hear that you found the oil pressure problem. Too bad you have to continue to search for this problem.
